Just curious as to what you guys have other than keyboard and mouse. I have a Gravis Gamepad Pro (a clone of a PSX gamepad) as my only gamepad. I have to other ones but they only have four buttons and they aren't USB devices. I used to have a joystick that was called Gravis Destroyer (I think it was Gravis - I forget). I'm trying to save some money up to buy my a new gamepad that has two analog sticks so I can try to play 3d games with them like you would on an Xbox/GameCube/PS2.

I have a Nintendo 64 Controller hooked up to my PC with the Adaptoid, mostly for playing emulated Nintendo games.

I'm also looking into using the Gamecube controller and hooking it up to my PC, although it's not as useful for older 2D games because of its small sized control pad, but otherwise is almost perfect in my opinion.

I'm currently using a Wingman Attack 2 by logitech. 6 buttons and a throttle :\ not that good, but it gets the job done.

that i currently use:
Microsoft Presicion Pro great joystick.. MS knows how to make them

Logitech Wingman Attack 2 also a great joystick bought it for $20 because i needed something to play starlancer then found the MS stick for $1 so it's now a backup stick

MS Sidewinder Gamepad Pro decent gamepad... works alright for THPS2 mainly used as a backup

Interact Axispad my main gamepad, dual shock clone, i'm thinking of getting a replacement since my d-pad has gone funky making it not as easy to use in games like THPS2

Logitech Formula Force GP great wheel, force feedback, fairly well built, and i got it for $6 [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

don't use much anymore
Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital old style before the redesign excellent stick i'd still use it if the gameport was working, i figured i'd just upgrade to USB controllers instead of trying to fix the gameport issue i use it with my old computer

console:
Interact Concept 4 (Dreamcast) it does the job has the same problems as the V3 mentioned below

Logitech Speedforce (Gamecube) great wheel, force feedback, $20 at best buy, pedals are sold separately, only complaint is that the wheel is a little on the small side

for sale (none are usb)
Interact Magnum 6 an alright joystick 6 buttons, or 4 buttons with a POV hat, or 4 buttons with a throttle...

MS Sidewinder Standard 2 button 3-axis the first stick i had for my computer

Interact Propad 6 good solid gamepad 6 buttons with a d-pad

Saitek P-[numbershere] good gamepad 6 buttons but the 2 trigger buttons are freaky causing the controller to act up unless a generic 4 button gamepad driver is used

Interact V3 Wheel good wheel does it's job but is not well designed for desk mounted use

Sidewinder Precision 2. My first joystick (for PC). I have no complaints. Although I haven't used it that much yet. Seems to be a great stick with its digital technology.

Logitech joysticks look good on paper, but so unbelievable many people have told they break in a month that I didn't have the nerve to buy one.

For PC, Sidewinder Pro is my preferred joystick and I also have a Logitech force-feedback optical mouse.

For console, probably the X-box controller, because I have big hands, although I really like the N64 one.

then some people need to learn to not use their joysticks as hammers

i've never had any trouble with my logitech stuff breaking other than part of the POV hat on one coming off... still works

I keep meaning to buy an adapter for mine since I don't want to splice cables.

I'm actually looking for a good gamepad to play MGS2: Substance on. I'm trying to look for a gamepad that is near identical to the GameCube one, because I'm used to the Twin Snakes controls. If anyone knows where I could find one, I'd appreciate it.

I can't find it, but its a really good joystick. A thrustmaster something or other. Modeled after the joystick used in many fighter jets and exactly the same one in the A-10 Worthog, for any of you who saw that documentary.
Since I can't find it, I am using some really really old joystick made by CH Products. It's really is nothing more than a box with a stick comming out of it with a button on top.

or you could have spliced together a usb cable and the breakaway section from teh controller cable... or bought a premade cable like that one...

you just wasted time and effort on that one... but it does count as an interesting case mod

MS Sidewinder Precision Pro (series 1).

Best joystick ever. Its been going since Age of Empires two came out, without a problem. Now its starting to fall apart a bit, but its still pretty good.

I used to have a Gravis Gamepad Pro, until I switched my SB AWE64 for a more "specialised" sound card for recording - it doesn't have a gameport, but normal MIDI ports instead. I wound up replacing it with the Gravis Eliminator Gamepad Pro. It's the most comfortable controller I've ever owned.

As for having two analog sticks, nothing beats a PS2 controller with the USB adapter. I have a N64 controller with an Adaptoid that I got for X-Mas that I use with an emu for playing games that I own at high resolutions.

I've had several CH joysticks, a Wingman Extreme Digital, and now a Sidewinder Precision 2. The Logitech and CH joysticks far surpassed the Microsoft joysticks in build quality. The CH stick I had was analog, four buttons with a four way hat. The Logitech I only got rid of because it was really twitchy on the rudder twist, there was no deadspot. I also had a um, Logitech Wingman something or other, it was like the generation before the Extreme Digital when they had the more complex looking handles, as opposed to the bland, straighter curves and more futuristic look of the newer ones. The kind with the pointy view hats.

If I were to by a joystick now, it would be Logitech, CH, Saitek or one of the few companies that makes all steel flight stick replicas, no doubt the best you could get, although with a price tag.

For a gamepad, I have a MS Sidewinder. I rarely use it for games; it's fantastic for controlling Winamp. Volume, next/prev, play/pause, stop, windowshade, etc. Even if I'm in a full-screen game, I can control Winamp.

For joysticks, well, a long time ago, I had a joystick that was a CH FlightStick base with a Thrustmaster FCS (the original) stick on it. It was real nice. The functionality of the Thrustmaster, with the smooth, easy response of the CH base. Really an awesome combo. When I got a SideWinder 3D Pro, a Thrustmaster Top Gun stick went on that base (mostly the same as the FCS stick, bit bulkier). Also a nice combo, though the base was awfully wide. But no pots to worry about, which is a definite plus. One day it just stopped working, though.

Now there's only one joystick: Cougar.

For my PC I have a MS Sidewinder Pro which isn't too shabby. However, no other controller/gamepad/joystick/whatever compares to the GC controller. Fits perfectly into my hands and everything.

I can't stand any console controller other than the XBox Controller S. Everything else feels too small, too cluttered, and too fragile to me. And they always have end up killing my wrists when I've tested them.
