Unreal Championship

I just played this over my friends house all night, and all I can say is WOW. Am I the only one that thinks this game rocks?! I especially like the Shock rifle in this game. It has got to be the coolest looking thing ever. I liked it a lot better then Unreal Tournament 2003, but a bit less then 2004. Overall it's a really great game, but it's only on X-Box. Anyone else have this game? I thought that the controls would be hard to get used to, or the gameplay would suck, but the controls are easy after a little while and the gameplay is awesome. I really wish they kept that Shock rifle design for 2004....so cool [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] My only complaint is that there are no mutators. I reccomend for those of you who want UT2004, but your PC can't handle it, or you don't have enough cash, get Unreal Championship, it's down to $15 - $20. (If you have an X-Box that is) Also, Unreal Championship 2 looks freaking amazing. This game has the potential to be better then 2k4

Really, whose PC can't handle UT2004?

I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

Umm, the bottom line is, UT2k4 is very new, and in order to run it you need a pretty decent processor and graphics card. Many people that never needed a PC this powerful, now they don't want to spend the $200 - $400 to upgrade their PC's. atleast 50% - 60% of my friends can't run UT2k4. Not EVERYONE is a hardcore gamer.

Anyway this isn't about who can and can't run UT2k4, it's about Unreal Championship.

Is that the shock rifle in the last pic? It -does- look much sexier than 2k4's.

This computer is going on 3 years old, and it can run UT2k4 easily.
2004-07-04, 9:23 PM #8
That's what I'm trying to say - UT2004 is far from the most demanding game out there today. You hardly need a brand new computer to run it well.

I wish Epic would port over some of the maps from Unreal Championship, there's some really great ones in there. Then again, with the PC controls some of 'em may not work so well, but dammit, I WANT THOSE LEVELS. :P

I'll admit to Reactor CTF, Duel Abyss, Duel Turbulent, Duel Dustball, and even the CCCP, but not Sky High! (my first, be kind!) Ok so maybe I will.

Game companies need to start targeting the main stream gamer, and make games that will work on a preety good system built with-in the last 2 years, and not target the people that bought a PIII from Dell 4 years ago with out even looking a the specs beside the CPU speed. Or some one who just bought a 400$ Celeron from Dell. These are people who word process and play Java games. They think good graphis are only found on PS-2's. If they would start concentrating on gamers we could see a big improvement in PC games.

Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds from the eyes of a business man?

And I hear unreal championship 2 sucks. That's just G4TechTV's review.

Any system, even non-gaming systems, made in the past 4 years can run UT2004. I should know, this system runs it:

PIII 750mhz laptop
8MB onboard shared video
128 MB Ram
10gig HD

And it runs the game. Not very well, mind you, but it does run.

Anyways, PC UT2004 is soooo much better than the XBox version, its not even funny. Keyboard and Mouse will always best a controller, IMO.

Yes it is, and it looks much sexier in game, even the shock blast looks better.

You do realize that Unreal Championship isn't supposed to be a whole new game. It's just UT2003 for Xbox. So no, it won't outdo UT2k3 or UT2k4.

Well, if some guy who know nothing about PC games or PC's goes out and buys a PC game, it won't run too well, he'll play and forget it. But if it's really amazing almost every one wiht good system will get it. And if it's moddable, they will even after it's dosen't have good graphics.

My computers looks about the same if better than those Xbox shots of UT2k3 and UT2k4.

*needs a new motherboard with an ATI slot that has MORE than 2 ram slots.* GB. RAM. DDR. Need.

A new processor would be good too. *MY PC CAN HANDLE COD AND IS DAMNED OLD* All I really need is more RAM then I can run painkiller. It's about a 7-8 year old comp. *pets video card*

That's the biggest pile of gibberish I've ever seen on massassi. Since when do we have the half-noob wannabes on the forums? You DON'T Need a gig of RAM, there's no such thing as an ATi slot (AGP slot?) and why do you think having a gig of RAM will suddenly let you run Painkiller?

I agree with all of that.

I'm running the UT2k4 demo on here,
PIII 900Mhz
256Mb Ram
512Mb Virtual
ATi Radeon 7500 SE

It runs damned good. Only slowdowns I've ever seen are in very heavy firefights.

If it hasn't been mentioned... You can get a shock rifle that looks VERY similar to that in UT2k4 by telling the game to use the old weapon model (or something similar) in the weapons options. That's the one I'm using becuase I didn't really like the appearence of the default.

G4TTV has two review shows. Did you see it on X-Play or Judgement Day?

I respect Judgement Day more (not to say that X-Play is bad). I just find Victor and Tommy to be more professional. I also don't like X-Play's review system. The 5 star method is horrible. 4 or 5 stars means the game is great, but 3 star games might be enjoyable, or possibly terrible. It's simply not varied enough.

This was not meant to be a rant, but there it is.

Both. Tommy gave it a 7 I think, Vic a 5.5 or 6. X-Play gave it a mediocre...3...out of 5.

I like Tommy and Vic but for some reason Morgan and Adam make a better show. It's just more fun [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
