Ingredients for a good game.

1. Group of Software Engineers/game programmers. Why? They set the value for everything like numbers and stuff.

2. Graphics Designer especially recognized with Maya. Why? To create the 3-D pictures and images in the game.

Now, I need help to make the list complete. These are the only two thing I know a company needs to make games. Please continue the list with next step being 3. and tell why and 4. tell why and 5... I think you get the idea.

Thank you.

P.S. Are there different requirements for different types of games? Such as FPS like Starcraft and DnD which is MMO? Besides creating a server with internet and all.

There's no such thing as an "ingredient" list for creating a game. Developing a game isn't like baking a cake.

Interestingly enough, you can still make **** pie with the best ingredients.

If you're really interested in what it takes to make a good game, you should probably read Andrew Rollings and Ernest Adams on Game Design. I just sold my copy, but you should be able to get it for pretty cheap.

If you only knew how completely absurd that statement was.

It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake...

Being a programmer myself, I feel offended that my role is perceived as just setting values of numbers.

All game development requires you to not be retarded.

If the way is hazy,
you gotta do the developing by the book,
you know you can't lazy,

If you don't use the method recipe,
the game will up crazy

If you do the developing by the book,
then we'll have a game.
We gotta have it made, you know that I love game,
finally its time to make a game.

Why don't you just watch the credits for a video game that you deem good?
2006-10-30, 6:58 AM #22
Also, programmers and art are required for any games, not just good ones.

That's basically it, really. You just task yourself with when to change what memory location to which number.

They'll need a scapegoat for why the game wasn't released and all the employees lost their jobs.

No, we leave such things to the lowly compiler and assembler programs.
