Game you've played that's from before 2000?
Why do i ask? Well Because i want to know of more classic games that might work on the ****-comp[tm]
And also because i might find some interesting answers.

I vote... StarCraft: For one reason only- The map maker! Its the only thing keeping the game alive today and has produced some imaginative levels.

[Please dont say Half Life. That's too obvious]

Planescape: Torment

Games that came out before 2000 are "classic"? Is this how my parents felt when their favorite songs began playing on "oldies" stations?

Oh, and for RTS, all the C&C games, especially Red Alert 2 with the Yuri's Revenge expansion and the DeeZire mod. Seriously, that mod is just about an unofficial expansion.

OH! How could I forget. Thief I, Thief II and the unofficial Thief 2x fan missions for Thief II. Again, like an unofficial expansion. About 14 new missions with a new story and character. Very professionally done. Actually, get Thief Gold instead of Thief I, it has 3 extra missions in it.

The Neverhood. The best, hands down. Still at the top of my list.

Runners-up would include Full Throttle, Aces Over Europe/Aces of the Pacific, Crusader: No Remorse/No Regret, Dark Forces, Sonic 2, Outlaws, Oni.
