What's this all about? How are we going to attract new members if they can't register? I think someone needs to rethink this decision.

Even if this decision "protects" us from spam bots (I'm so traumatized by them :v: ), it's still a poor decision since the cons outweigh the pros.

Well, I would guess it has something to do with the recent influx of ad bots. And it's not like there's going to be hundreds of potential members trying to register. Worst case scenario, you piss off maybe five people.

Given that Adam001 and HACKS4FREE (or whatever) weren't bots, I proposed we that we close user registration.

At the time of announcement, there was no condition set under which it would be re-opened, so I didn't state it.

It's because of trolls & spambots, and mb has decided that it will remain in effect until we upgrade, at which point we hope that the CAPTCHA will be sufficient filter out the spam bots.

Its not one or the other. The trolls are annoying yes, and some of them seem to be bots. At the same time, I've been meaning to upgrade the boards. The 2 just happened at similar times.

Give me about a week to get done with finals and ill get to it :P
