This is fantastic. As soon as my site is up and running, I'm going to set this stuff up. Amazing. Fantastic. Beautiful.

The only problem I have is the large 25%. Still, you get your money immediatly, you get the best prices, and you're rewarded for an active site. Everyone REALLY wins.

I sound like a Bot, but I'm just really happy about this project. It's exactly what google usually does: Offer the best for everyone. Adsense is quite frankly stupid, and does nothing for the web design community. I've been traveling in very active design/host communities lately, and everyone agrees that this is nothing but good news.

AdSense is wonderful for two reasons: it's relevant and non-obtrusive.

From Google's philosophy page:
Quote:
As a business, Google generates revenue by providing advertisers with the opportunity to deliver measurable, cost-effective online advertising that is relevant to the information displayed on any given page. This makes the advertising useful to you as well as to the advertiser placing it. We believe you should know when someone has paid to put a message in front of you, so we always distinguish ads from the search results or other content on a page.
Quote:
Google has also proven that advertising can be effective without being flashy. Google does not accept pop-up advertising, which interferes with your ability to see the content you've requested. We've found that text ads (AdWords) that are relevant to the person reading them draw much higher clickthrough rates than ads appearing randomly.
And random is what you'll get with a bid system.

That's true.

But it's the ONLY good part about it. The only good part.

Have you seen the ads? They're like the worst ads of the 90s. Small, clumped together, sometimes MOVING?

It makes your website look cheap, adsense at least has some class to it.

These are the ad sites that all the cool kids seem to be using (aka web developers):

http://www.text-link-ads.com/feedvertising/ for putting small text ads in your site feeds. Useful because more and more people are using feeds to read content rather than visiting sites.

http://www.adbrite.com/mb/index.php?h=2 seems quite nice

http://www.text-link-ads.com/ text links, but more focused than adsense.
