Alan Wake stuff... and a tech question

So I haven't been on this place in a few moths... and I have no idea if this is old news or not, but on the alan wake site there are more screenshots. Pretty ones, too. And still no release date. I don't know why but that particular game is just so intriguing to me. I'm not very interested in any others.

Anyways, I'm starting a very big project for school, and I have to make a documentary. Nothing too fancy, I've got it all planned out. Anyways I purchased a new video card to handle the video editing (my video card was an old Radeon 9000 SE 128 mb card, I like it, but it won't cut it anymore .( ). The new card is a Sapphire Radeon X1600 pro 512 mb. I can't seem to find PSU requirements for this particular card. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough. I have a 450 watt PSU already, I am thinking that that should be enough, but you never know. I'll just cross my fingers?

Uhm, a video card doesn't really help video editing at all. It's pretty much raw CPU, RAM, and possibly hard disk usage.

If I was mb, I'd move this to the tech forum and ruin your chances of ever getting help.

Odd, my mentor for my project (who went through film school) said that the video card memory is what is used for the video processing... ah well... I'm getting more RAM and a new video card. Either way it will perform better. And my computer will be able to handle new programs for a long time. As for the PSU question, anybody have any comments? I have heard of plenty of people working video cards on much less powerful PSU's than required, but I have also heard of quite a few who had to get a new Power Supply.
edit: (thats why I added in the Alan Wake bit, vincent ;) )

If I were you I'd go with the PSU you have.

If you end up having what could be power problems, you can always try unplugging some devices to see if it helps. If it does, THEN you get a new power supply. :)

Video cards do not have with video editing because video cards are intended to speed up 2D and 3D rendering--drawing already created content to the screen. The actual content generation--video encoding or generation--would be done on the CPU with normal RAM.
