This article kind of flies in the face of all of the PS3 > Xbox360 hype coming out of sony. Not really surprising I suppose.. but then, I already knew the 360 GPU was based on R600 unified architecture while RSX is old 7800 technology, and that PS3 ram was divided while 360 is dynamic.

Honestly unless Sony gets some *really* compelling exclusives I see no reason to buy one. I guess if you really love MGS and Final Fantasy.

ALSO it now appears that PS3 will not upscale 720P to 1080i, so if you have a 1080i only TV, you get to use the PS3 in 480P. LOL

Interesting.

None of those new consoles really have games that make my heart bounce out of interest, though.

We have Gears Of War at work and it seems quite good. I have not heard any complaints by anyone that I have seen playing it.

I still think I'm gonna skip out on this generation of consoles, unless by some act of God i get one for free.

I'm not sure if I'll buy one, but I'm very interested in the Wii and how it's controller will change console and even PC gaming. Maybe it's revolutionary, maybe a gimmick - we'll see. I think it has a lot of potential for melee control, such as in the FPS genre.

That sucks. Hopefully some of the issues can be fixed with firmware upgrades. Sony really will have to pull some good exclusives out of its ***.

Also, the PS3's "betterness" can't even be determined until towards the end of the console's life, which also sucks.

We have an Xbox 360 at work but I have not had the chance to try it out. The PS3 is far too expensive for me. The concept of the Wii sounds great, but I have not yet had the chance to check out the store displays. If I do get a console, and I highly doubt that I will, it will most likely be a Wii.

Buying a next-gen console depends upon my computer's capability of playing Alan Wake. If it isn't quite up to snuff (with a limit of 300 dollars for upgrading it), I might buy a 360. Just because I want to be able to play alan wake with no lag. I am obsessed with that game but its not coming out for a long time. I havent had a new console since Sega Genesis. It may yet be awhile before I get another one outside of a pc.

I personally think Halo-style matchmaking is revolting.

Gimme host/client any day.

I'm probably not going to get one. If i did, I would turn around and sell it on e-bay; the going rate right now is about $3000. That's a pretty good return for only paying $600 (tax excluded for simplicity) and waiting in line for a few days.

Once the PS3 finally becomes entrenched, there will probably be a lot of PS2s showing up on ebay for cheap.... i might finally get one.

I didn't get an original xbox until 2005, when they cost under $100. However, there are a couple of 360 titles that really intrigue me, I think I'll be getting on in the near future.
