That is just as retarded as all of the other "smash my" clips. I cannot believe that people have such an utter disregard for money. I could have fed an Ethiopian kid for a ****ing year for what those retards paid for that piece of **** console.

dude, most of the donars are from the US, a country thats government spends more of the GDP on military than international aid, so of course it will have people who have a huge disregard for money.

It's their money, they can use it however they want. Thanks for turning this into a thread about how much the US sucks, though.

I'd think this clip was hilarious but it seemed to me that no one really cared, so...it was really pointless.

How many countries do you know of that spend more of their GDP on international aid than their own self-preservation? Why not compare it to law enforcement, education, etc.?

The reaction from the nerds in line was not nearly violent enough as is necessary to provoke amusement. You fail.

I do not believe that the true nature of capitalism is to be wasteful with ones money. If anything, it would be the opposite.

Right. You're aware that nearly every country spends more money on the military than on international aid, aren't you?

Buying a $600 machine just to smash it is stupid, but as stupidity goes it's probably on a rough par with your attempt to make this about "those Americans and their prodigal ways."

I really don't see how the guys who smashed that thing are any worse than anyone else in those lines. Either way, all that money could be much better spent.

In fact I would say that smashmyps3.com is a tad better since they didn't spend their own money.

Everyone in the world is some kind of idiot or another.
There's not a single one of us here that does not have a large portion of money, time and effort that could be better spent to help someone in need.

The difference is though that you kind of need food in order to survive. You don't need a PS3.

Anyway, that's just stupid if you're going to buy a $600 undersupplied console then you should just play with it. Instead of smashing it in front of people for the heck of it in. (Or to stroke his incredibly sensitive ego, whichever applies to that man)

But yeah, I'll just agree that that money could've been better spent. Wether it's by giving it to charity, keeping the PS3 for gaming goodnes, or buying a Wii and some games, expand your DVD collection drastically, buy some sensible clothing, or whatever it is you can do with $600 these days.
Seishun da!

Ok, these people agreed to take other people's money in order to buy a PS3 and smash it for the donors' amusement. Those people who gave them their money decided their resources would net them the best gain by giving it towards that cause than feeding some kid in a crap-hole country. That sounds like simple capitalistic economics. An exchange of capital for a service.

You can't get mad at the guys. They only take donations. It's not like they are wasting their own money.

And frankly, all the people donating to them thought that donating was an efficient allocation of their money. If people received benefits from donating to SmashMy*blank*, whether they are psychic benefits or not, then let them do what they want.

Besides, giving money to poor people only furthers the problem and creates an even bigger moral hazard. *opens up can of worms*

the lack of a recaction from the nintendo crowd is due to the fact that there was ample suply in the shop to get their's, and this just provided an amusing sideshow while waiting in line.

While it is true people are utter idiots when it comes to their finances, that technically is not the government's fault. Besides, a secular government will care more about itself than others naturally. Hence, nonprofit/religious/charitable organizations exist.

The government provides tax breaks for those who do donate (at least internal aid organizations I know). It's the capitalist way: let people spend their money on whatever they want, let competition/morality do the rest. How many dollars of international aid do communist countries offer?
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth
