Monday around noon a storm hits with 60-70mph winds causing alot of damage (a few blocks from here there is a big tree blocking the road) we have a few short interruptions in the power and after the storm went through still had power

2-3hours later while i was playing serious sam a part of a tree must have fallen on the line snapping a cable and killing the power... the power still has not been restored but i am still here running off a generator...

Bah, last year during a power outage, I drained the batteries on my sister's laptop just so I could post here. I was literally surfing the net by candlelight.

Generators are better for computer than anything else. Uninterruptible power source. Hope your power gets cut on soon [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

we just bought ours yesterday... we were gonna buy a second smaller one so we wouldn't have to use the motorhome generator to power the TV and AC in this room but everyone was sold out when we went back out to look for one

Heh, considering we haven't had a single power failiure since the ice storm in '98, I wouldn't see any use in getting a generator.

Well, I bet you sure wished you had a generator during THAT... that was crazy. As for me, the power goes off regularily every couple of months.

*kicks Ontario's outdated and obsolete power grid*

*oops, the power went out*

As for the Ontario government promising to switch ENTIRELY to nuclear from the old coal-fired plants by 2007.... like that's ever gonna happen.

Well generators can be bad, because they can cause brownouts, shortages in power. It won't go completely out, but brownouts can really mess your PC up.

Depends on the quality of the generator. But they can do that...can...

All I'm saying is when the power goes out it's a great excuse to actually do something else.
