I parked my car under a gum tree in the car park at work the other day. Unfortunately a large group of fruit bats had designated that gum tree as dinner, and the remains of said dinner were left plastered all over my windshield and roof.

I went out on a ghost hunting expedition with some friends once, out at an old coal mine.

We walked into a big room that used to lead down into one of the tunnels. It was about 12:30am, and pretty darn dark. As we waved our torches around, there was a scratching. Then a squeaking. As Mort began to shiver with fear, and as I began to wonder if I should sacrifice Mort to save my own life, Tom pinned his sights square on the culprit. A cute little bat. Mort had soiled himself and was ready to go home, I was a little dissapointed we didn't find anything cool, and Tom wanted to pick it up and play with it.


Good times.

Too bad they only hang out in the bushes around here, so I never really get to see them except for lucky glances at night.

Hahaha, I've had two encounters with bats. The first was at camp when a bat landed on my sleeping bag (while I was in it) and refused to leave until my friend hit me in the crotch with a fire extinguisher. The second was when a bat hit a tree and fell unconscious on the ground, and when my dad leaned over to see what it was it decided to wake up and fly straight into his face.

Good times.

I love bats. They're so ugly 90% of the time that they're adorable. But fruit bats look like little foxes... and they rule.
