Resized from 1280x1024.

Have a 20.1" WS too, but I'm sending it back and getting another. More pics when I get the new setup, err, set up.

Do you have the key to that lock?

Other than a "MasterKey" (it almost looks like that was used once or twice, though)...

I don't need a key, since the door is located in France. The Atlantic Ocean is a larger obstacle to my opening the door.

That version of the picture is here , and there is also a super huge version somewhere in either this thread or in this one. There is also some cool "making of" in that first thread.

Brand new as of today. Litestep with the Buuf theme, Rocket Dock and icons from vistaicons.com. The ugly thing in the top right is ASUS PC-Probe II. I'm going to skin it soon to match, but I'm lazy.

Question for you, and others with super simple desktops:

I'm all for simplicity, but don't you find that calling up a menu to launch frequently run programs (terminal, web browser, email client, frequently played games, etc) is actually more work (or "less simple") than having something like a quick launch bar?
2006-12-08, 11:59 PM #73
Perhaps. Not by much, though, as I know where in the menus everything I want to access is. Besides, it clears out the clutter -- keeps it the way I like it.

'Course, my Windows desktop isn't quite so simplistic. I need to design a replacement interface for that...

I guess if I were in the habit of using a menu it wouldn't be so bad.
2006-12-09, 12:00 AM #75
I can't live without my right-click context menus. I can navigate by feel without really reading anything as long as my resolution stays the same...

I like the deskbar: press alt+f2 type "theme" and hit enter - it launches the gnome-theme-manager... for frequently used programms I like some quicklaunch bar tough. Fluxbox is on my laptop with 256 mb RAM - that's simplicity for the computer, and there it really rocks.

New one:

SuperKaramba is awesome, but it would be nice if it would start automatically at login and remember which widgets were open last time and automatically start them again....

Well, apparently there was a scripting problem in the theme I was using, so I had to scrap it. The new one is quite shway, but I'll have to save the screenshot for another time.
