Since its establishment in 1839, the University of Missouri-Columbia has only cancelled classes due to weather twice...

...until today. :D

I am now witness to one of three snow days in more than a 100 years!

It's been raining here since last night. I wouldn't mind some snow. Oh well, at least it's cold.

Schools here were closed Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They thought they could open Tuesday, but less than half the students showed up.

There are no "snow days" in Sweden.

We did have one back in 1995 though. Maybe because there was like four feet of snow outside.
VTEC just kicked in, yo!

We're supposed to get our first snowfall today here in quebec (we've only had rain here in november) and we're supposed to kick off the snow season with a snow storm and freezing rain. Bleck. At least it'll look like winter afterwards. :)

I don't think I've ever experienced a snow day.

It was quite funny back in highschool, when I had to take a 1 hour bus trip to school (english highschool) out of town, and it didn't even close down on snowy days, yet schools in the very city, which kids walked to, closed down.

I guess they were worried about the kids slipping on their tousche.

I had one once, but only because the schools central heating had broken down and it would have been freezing in lessons.

I woke up in shock to find out my college had canceled class. I mean, we are a smaller school, but still this is my first snow day in a decade I think.

My school has had two snow days since it was created.

My freshman year there was a stage 2 state of emergency across the entire city. It stated that except for emergencies, no traffic was allowed on the road.

We still had classes.

Around here, we don't get "snow days".

We get "firestorm days" and "massive earthquake days".

The gusts of wind at my school, which is located in a pass in a long mountain range, reach up to 90mph, so we also get "wind days" every once in a while. The gusts got up 75mph yesterday, but the school didn't shut down.

Where I live it seems there has to be at least four feet of snow or more to have a snow day. Though I hear in some states the schools will close for a few inches. I bet someone probably already said that, but I'm to lazy to look.

We didn't get crap here. Apart from being grateful I didn't have to drive home during a storm, I feel cheated. Everything went south.

So yeah, back in the day. We got a few snow days too. It was lame. Don't even get anywhere near the kind of snow we had back then, and they still declare snow days. Totally stupid. Oh man, and then there were these cold advisory days they started calling recently. They didn't call them years before, and they certainly didn't call them when my father was a kid, and you could step outside and hear trees splitting open in the cold.

mscbuck- WI? Holy crap, we've got another one! Where?

simbachu- Sweden sounds like my kind of place.

No snow in Dutchland yet.

Hell, it's not even started freezing at night for that matter. The weather's having spasms.

We only get snow here on the top of the local mountains when it gets really cold. I did have a couple of days in elementry school that were called because the heating went out.

Apart from the aforementioned situation, this is the only reason we've been off when it's been snowing.
nope.
