Name That Movie
2006-12-07, 3:46 PM #1
Now Jim, I realise this is usually your thing but I felt it was overdue. :P

rules:
1. only movies released in the US
2. movies still in theaters are allowed
3. try to keep from posting any pics that could spoil anything in newer movies
4. you MUST wait your turn it is only your turn to post an image when you have correctly guessed the movie and the person who posted the image has confirmed this
5. If the thread is idle for 2 days after a guess has been confirmed and no new image is posted the thread will be hijacked and i will post a new image to keep the game moving so make sure to keep checking the thread if you make a guess
6. If someone passes their turn to someone else and specifies a person to take their turn that person has 1 day not 2 to post their image
7. If after 3 days nobody correctly guesses please post a new image from the same movie
8. I will not respond to guesses in the chat room

Now to get it started

Should be easy.

I have a hunch why the others didnt' last. The could just be an old photo of Thrawn's great grandpa. We'll spend pages and pages guessing, then eventually people will forget about this thread. . .Or it's a movie we've all seen but we cant figure it out at all because it isn't in color.
My blawgh.

Okay, how about we add a rule that says if your grandmother went to see the movie when it came out, it's disallowed?

That looks like Laurel from Laurel and Hardy.

So I'll go for Laurel and Hardy.

Buster Keaton is the only silent movie actor I'm familiar with, but that doesn't look like him.

I'll say Phantom of the Opera because its the only silent film that I know of to not be guessed.

Are we just letting this die then? It could be fun if people don't post ultra-obscure titles.
2006-12-10, 8:47 PM #23
How will we know how cultured people are if they don't post ultra-obscure titles?

Right, because City Lights is a really obscure movie. I thought everyone and their mother has seen that movie. I guess I was wrong. Someone else can go.

I can count on one hand how many people I know who have seen even the most famous silent films. Notice how none of my fingers are up.

Even I, who have seen many films have not really ventured into silent films - save Phantom of the Opera or Nosferatu.
