General Wii Thread: Take 2
2006-12-08, 3:50 PM #1
Ok, once more, Americans, Europeans, and Aussies have Wiis. Some people are still having problems getting Wiis. Everyone loves their Wii. Some of the games are fun. Some take a bit to get used to. Want to share your experiences about the Wii? How are the games? What was it like buying one? Post about it here.

We've already had like 20 of these threads. Is this really necessary? [/Everyone]
Think while it's still legal.

Apparently it is. Because despite there already being "like 20 of these threads," people continue to start new ones. This will give them a place to post, instead of starting the "21st of these threads."

Wii, and by wii, I mean myself and the future owner of massassi, think that multiple threads about a single "general" thing like PS3 or Wii are just fine. If it gets out of control, where every other thread is one, it makes sense to move them. In this case, however, I think there are multiple topics that have to do with Wii, some are american, some european, some about specific games, etc. Imagine if we had to take every post about "computers" and merge them together. Meh.

Finally some logic I can agree with.

I for one welcome this new idea from Roach. Every other thread IS about the wii.

My friend that works at Best Buy says that more are coming on Saturday. They're not supposed to sell them until opening on Sunday, but he said if I come in right before close, they'll give me one.

Heh, that reminds me, I was in Best Buy yesterday, and a worker was walking around with a cart full of PS3s asking if people wanted one. I found it funny, considering the high demand for them.. I guess people probably dont bother checking anywhere but ebay now.

Hehe, I went into Toys R Us looking for a Wii the other day, and the guy behind the video games counter said all he had were a couple of PS3s and the previous generation consoles. I declined on the PS3.

As I posted in the other thread, I plan on going to Best Buy Sunday morning and picking up a wii.
The guy I talked to on the phone said I wouldn't have a problem getting one, but someone totally unrelated said I should show up a few hours before the store opens.

I was just going to show up around opening time... any thoughts on that plan?
2006-12-08, 6:57 PM #16
Well, how many other people know about it? You may want to think about showing up early.

Today I'm going to go see if there's a Wii demo stand somewhere so I can give it a try. I know it's probably sold out everywhere.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

So what's COD3 like on Wii? After being blown away by the graphics in the Xbox360 version, I'm quite curious. I saw some very nasty screenshots.

The game looks like a mix between the GCN and the XBox version, but they kept all the effects in the game so there is still that WAR IS HAPPENING!!!11one!1 feel to the game. It looks like poo, but it plays awesome. The ONLY problem with the game is tossing grenades. For some reason it only works like 50% of the time. The other 50% they just blow up in your hands.

Any Wii injuries among you guys yet? I played a Wii at school a couple of weeks ago, and in like 1.5 hours there were two.

-In the first, a guy was playing tennis and didn't realize how close he was to a conference table, and smacked a chair really hard when he was swinging.

-In the second, two guys were boxing and decided it'd be a good idea to face each other. This was a pretty crowded event, so they were close, and punched each other's fists a few times.

There were also a few cases of two people swinging controllers and hitting eachother.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went to five places at opening, including Best Buy and Circuit City, and they all didn't have any wiis....
Toys"R"us had a bunch of display boxes that were empty... which is totally stupid. Whoever thought of that needs to be slapped.

Everyone said 'come back next Sunday'... but like... meh.

It's not like I was waiting for these places to open from the crack of dawn. Oh wait. Yes. I was.

:(

I work in the electronics department at a Target. Our store and most in the area are getting Wiis next Sunday. I get off my shift at midnight and plan on waiting until eight when the store opens to get a console and a game.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
