I'm not much of a gamer anymore. I think the only game I've played in the past year is Shadow of the Colossus because it's amazing.

But I really want Civ IV... for mac. Get over it. I use & love using my macbook pro as opposed to my old PC.

I can't find Mac games anywhere except online or at the Apple store. I saw one, ONE! mac game at Best Buy today and it was Myst something or other and no one really likes Myst except for people who bought the first one 15 years ago.

Listen up retail world: Start carrying mac games. You have iPods. People are buying more macs these days so start carrying the software.

I'm confused, what is this "Mac game" you speak of?

(In all seriousness though, aren't most Mac games on the same disk as PC ones?)

Truth. Most games come out with the mac and PC version on the same disc.

You could, but if you prefer using your Mac and OSX in the first place, why bother? That and if I remember my facts correctly, just because it'll boot into Windows doesn't mean it'll play games. In fact, I'm pretty sure they even SAY it's not really up to spec for playing games. It's mainly for people who have programs and work that is dependent upon windows to run.

Guys!

I use a computing machine that makes up for much less than half the market of all the other computer machines. And specifically, far less than that popular computing machine!

But I'm upset because no one carries crap I can use because not nearly enough people own these things to make selling crap for them profitable!

THE WORLD IS SO UNFAIR TO ME!!!! WAHHHH.

Rob, Im pretty sure that hes complaining that the already windows made games just haven't been converted for macs. Not that there are no mac specific games.

Anwho.

Yeah, I think the whole separate disks for different platforms thing was more of a 20th century problem.

...

Aren't you the guy that has an antiquated PC that can't play anything more recent than Dark Forces 2? If THAT?

You don't have ANY room to talk. At least Schming can play games made within the last few years if he can find them.

Yes but it can run those games without me searching for three days to find a version that works.

actually he is complaining that no retail stores carry the games and rob is explaining why retail stores don't carry mac games in his own way

retail stores carry ipods because THEY SELL and do not require a mac
retail stores don't because THEY DON'T SELL as they require a mac and that shelf space they would use can hold a few more PC games that WILL SELL

people who own macs need to get used to shopping online for their games

That's not my point. You can't play ANYTHING made within at least the last 5 years. At least he could go play UT2k4, Battlefield 1942, Call of Duty 2, Halo, Civ 4, Lego Star Wars... Christ, even Jedi Academy and World of Warcraft.

Can YOU do ANY of that?

My point is that he, even with his Mac and having to actually SEARCH for games, is MUCH better off than YOU are.

And as far as I'm concerned these days, buying a game online beats buying it in store anyway. You don't have instant gratification, but you stand a chance at getting a better deal.

Not usually, most are ports done by Aspyr or a couple of other specialists. Disney games, the Myst games, and Premier Football Manager (previously Championship Manager) do however come Mac/PC on one DVD or CD like you say.

PC World in York has a small Mac games section, but I mainly look at the Apple Store or Amazon when I feel like looking for games. I never buy any though :(

Amazon carries a ton of Mac games. While Apple is beginning to acquire a bit more of the market, it's not yet quite time for most retail stores to carry Mac games. Stores exist to make a profit, not necessarily to offer you more variety, unless that makes them money.
