If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me... I have one...
I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss. Right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on melody lane with all the other rich people, and I want him brought right here. With a big ribbon on his head. And I want to look him straight in the eye, and I want to tell him what a CHEAP, LYING, NO-GOOD, ROTTEN, FOUR-FLUSHING, LOW-LIFE, SNAKE-LICKING, DIRT-EATING, INBRED, OVERSTUFFED, IGNORANT, BLOOD-SUCKING, DOG-KISSING, BRAINLESS, DICKLESS, HOPELESS, HEARTLESS, FAT-***, BUG-EYED, STIFF-LEGGED, SPOTTY-LIPPED, WORM-HEADED SACK OF MONKEY **** HE IS!
HALLELLUJAH!
Holy ****.

Okay, NOW it feels like Christmas. Thank you.

My brother's in-laws could probably recite that by heart, I think even the whole movie. Apparently it's their favorite year around.

Nice, I just watched Christmas Vacation last night. On VHS :o

Too bad the HD transfer of it apparently sucks or else I'd be tempted to buy it.

Quoted For Truth

I can't stand Christmas Vacation. I just find it a bit unrealistic, although it's still barely funny.

Almost EVERYONE can identify with A Christmas Story, and overall it's just better and more consistent.
"His Will Was Set, And Only Death Would Break It"

"None knows what the new day shall bring him"

However, Christmas Story glorifies the "Fap Fap Fifties" mentality common to American culture, especially in the seventies and eighties. Christmas Vacation not only rebels against it, it activly parodies it with Clark's constant diatribe of a "Fun, old-fashioned family christmas". While Christmas Story is undoubtedly a very realistic film, the absurd reality of the National Lampoon films translates flawlessly to the over-commercialized behemoth we call Christmas.
And, while Christmas Story has added a common catch-phrase to American culture (You'll shoot yer eye out, kid), Christmas Vacation's contribution is even more absolute. Whenever you see someone with a crazy lit up house, they instantly recall Griswold's visible-from-space, knock-out-the-nuclear-power-plant, "is your house on fire?" hyperhome.

-I feel ashamed for having just argued about which is better, Christmas Story or Christmas Vacation. I feel all... dirty and fanboyish.

A christmas story is still better.

They're both good for their own reasons. I'd also add Peanut's Christmas to the list.

Saw him on celebrity poker a year or so ago, he looked really old. He hasn't really done jack since the 90s began (excepting movies that flopped).

Finnchannels allow swearing too, and Valtion elokuvatarkastamo (VET) which issues movie ratings doesn't even consider language when rating a movie.

I wonder why youtubers find it absolutely necessary to quote every single word that was just uttered in that clip, in their comments. I mean, really? We just watched it! We know what he said! :argh:
DO NOT WANT.

It just isn't Christmas until I watch Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story.

And then Indiana Jones. (Raiders of he Last Ark and The Last Crusade, Temple of Doom is trash)

Merry Christmas! I don't make threads anymore, I just bump old ones.
On the year old topic, I'd rate my top christmas movies as:

1) Christmas Vacation
2) Batman Returns
3) Edward Scissorhands
4) Christmas Story
5) Nightmare Before Christmas

-I come off sounding like a real fanboy there, don't I... oh well, not much can be done about it.

Every year my friends and I watch christmas movies on christmas eve, right up till midnight.
This year "A Christmas Story" was on the list of movies no-one had seen yet.

At about half an hour in we unanimously agreed it wasn't worth sitting through thus far in, and was unlikely to get any better. So we stopped it.
