Well that depends.

If you ever plan on owning a laptop or a PDA, it's cheaper in the long run to buy a WAP.

If not, the cheapest way might be to wait for the Wii USB network connector. There aren't any games that use the internets yet anyway.

I got a wifi max usb adapter for my DS and I use it for my Wii as well. I know no games use it yet but *shrug* they will one day and you can always share miis. The wonderful amazing miis hah.

Even though no games use the internet yet, there's still stuff like system updates, and the Virtual Console. Nintendo makes a WiFi USB Connector. I got mine at Best Buy.

Wait...there are utilities for having portable internet?

I've heard of something where you connect a cell phone to a laptop and BOOM you get internet. But there are different and specific devices for them? .. never knew.
