No guarantee they're legit, but if those numbers are true...that's one helluva card.

technology!!!
2006-12-31, 4:08 PM #5
I saw it two and it looks to be what i expected, but there are issues the prevent me from taking this as legit.

a) It's the only thing on the site
b) It's ATI. And it does just as better in Doom III as any other game.
c) Level 505?
d) How did some random American get a hold of a card even before the obligatory Chinese/Korean leak from happened?

It might be legit, but I doubt it. Well see.

Well, I had a few misgivings at first, but you gotta realize that this is a new ATI card. Not only that, but it rapes the 8800GTX by an average of 12-16% in DX9 games, but OGL it only beats it by 9%.

Also, as far as some American getting a hold of it, ATI's probably keeping the lockdown on this one hardcore as it's got a great chance of coming from nowhere and destroying nVidia's monopoly on the gfx market. Driver testing is as good an excuse as any.

It may not be real, but I think it is...only time will tell.

That's, true Yoshi, and it is a new core, so OGL performance isn't a given. The specs on the site are about where I'd guess them to be, but I have a hard time believing the site is legit.

Maybe, maybe not.

In 1 to 2 years it will suck.

GRRR. All you people saying cards suck after a few years. I had my Radeon 9000 LE for like 5 years and I loved it till the end! Its a good card... :(

I'm still using a TNT2. I meant that it will suck in the eyes of the people currently ogling it.

I am running a 6800GT. Managed to skip the 7 series generation of Nvidia cards and whatever the ATi equivalent was, but this next generation I will be looking at closely, since I'll probably be upgrading to it.
2006-12-31, 8:57 PM #14
I went from a Rage 128 -> Geforce 2 -> 9800pro ->7800GT/X1800XT

(I sold the GT and got the XT for almost the same price, so I don't really count it as an upgrade)
2006-12-31, 10:03 PM #15
Im stuck with the leftermost one.
2006-12-31, 10:09 PM #16
i have a 6800gt, ill have to upgrade the whole computer for a new vid card. new mobo, new processor, new vid card. im more of an nvidia fan so ill probably stick with that.

Is there a thread in which Tiberium has not seized an opportunity to tell everyone how crappy his computer is?
2007-01-01, 10:58 AM #21
BTW my computer sucks.

I still use a 9800 Pro and it does me fine. I'm a poor student and cant afford to upgrade but I don't play that many games any more and I've yet to find a game I want to play that doesn't work well enough. I can play oblivion at decent settings, that and Medieval 2 Total War are the only recent games I've been playing and they run fine.

I'll probably upgrade next year some time.

I'm pleased with my X1800GTO. The ONLY thing it's stuttered on has been Double Agent, and that troubles me because it's Unreal 3.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I don't get people who are "nVidia fans" or "ATI fans". Get the best card on the market--period. You save money, time, and gain performance that way. But if you wanna be a fanboy, I guess you're more than free to.

I just buy Nvidia because it's not ATI.

If Matrox cards didn't suck I'd have me one of them.

"I buy nVidia because it's not ATI"

...

That's like saying "I buy ford because it's not GM". Seriously, what's the real reason? What's wrong with ATI?

I've preferred ATI in the past, but if I were to upgrade I'd most likely go with nVidia. Mostly for better Linux drivers and Open GL support. Right now I'm running a 9600 Mobility, which I've been very happy with.

It's a three year old mid range notebook card, what were you expecting?
2007-01-03, 4:43 PM #37
Personally, after using ATi for most of my computing career, i can easily say that ATi's drivers suck compared to nVidia's. That, is the reason why i will not use ATi products, regardless of the performance gap.

How long has it been since you've used ATi's drivers? Last I heard they were getting better, and last I used them they worked nicely. Not only that, but nVidia's seem to be getting worse >:|

Just a bit over a year (i got a 6600 last Christmas). Can't say I've heard much about the ATi drivers since, or noticed any real problems with nVidia (apart from that annoying SLi marketing ploy last summer).

Where do they get these stupid names? Cant it just be Radeon 2007? They should go by year, so everyone knows which is kind of up to date by the name.
