Possibility and chance are only words to describe the unknown way in which unknown factors can influence a situation. Once all factors are known, we realize that there was never really any possibility at all, only unknown variables.

My head asplode. Very cool animation, though.

I forgot that I was interested in string theory

About halfway through I was thinking "this is nowhere near the explanation of 10-dimensional strings that was explored in Flatterland". Then at the end it said it wasn't an accepted explanation so all is good.

yup, flatland and its related stories are probably the best way to explain what the universes with more than three spacial dimentions look like.

Haha, cool. Good explanation, but I haven't heard any explanations so I'll keep from accepting this until I've heard alternatives.
I had a blog. It sucked.

The problem is that it doesn't allow more than 3 spatial dimension without giving a reason why. It comes up with a 10-dimensional multiverse simply out of convenience and then says "hey! string theory says there are 10 dimensions, I must be right!".

It may be that there are only 3 spatial dimensions, but the explanation given by the video doesn't pose that limitation so the conclusion can't be justified.

there's actually an 11th demension which unified the 5 string theorys called m-theory =).

Is that that stupid one where the higher dimensions are like different possible universes or whatever? That one was annoying and wrong.

How can it be wrong if there's absolutely no way to tell if it's real?

which sub-branch of string theory said that universes are giant "string planes", such that two of these planes hitting each other caused the big bang, and since their motion is cyclic, it'll happen again, like a cosmic reboot.

or something like that.

The string theory sounds like one of those things that should stay a hypothesis for now.

Kidding. That was pretty cool. Now what about those string theories (superstring?) that suggest 26 dimensions? O_o

Twenty Six dimensional string theory came about roughly the same time as eleven dimensional. It was later proven that the twenty six dimensions could be collapsed into eleven, so they're essentially the same thing. Eleven dimensional string theory is just simpler.

Simpler. Hahah.. I never thought I'd say String Theory was SIMPLER than anything.
