Well about a week ago today the first beta release of Goldeneye:Source was released and I completely fogot about it.

Basically the aim of the mod is supposed to be to recreate the Goldeneye Multiplayer for the source Engine.

It's alright.

But they thought they should also duplicate crap parts of the game too. (Like how anything that moves looks chunky as it does so, instead of being fluidly animated.)

I'll check it out. I have seen their progress through media releases over the past year; looks decent. It helps to subscribe to the Half-Life2.net RSS feed.

It's fun, but it has a few problems which will hopefully be worked out in a patch:

- Doors in facility are glitchy, IE don't push into them as you use them or they don't open right. I think it's a lag issue because I only recall it on one server I played on.
- If enough people join a server, it crashes. Yay! That was fun, there was a 16 person server and it would fill to capacity, go down, get back up immediately with 2-3 people, fill to capacity in 15 minutes, go down again...
- Hit detection seems to be a bit off, it could be lag, but it might not be, who knows. At any rate, you see blood spatters if a hit occurs on your box, even if not on the server. Gmod has this too. It's annoying and possibly misleading if you don't understand it.

It's fun but theres some bugs.

Generally the odd hit detection issue and some of the guns are waaay to accurate, like the pp7.

Theres also a small issue theyre making a patch towards fixing where a gun spawns and it can make the server crash or something. :/

And too many servers are running it on one hit kills.
nope.

The pp7 was always really accurate. It was always really easy to beat RPC-90 user using the PP7 in the original.

I shouldn't be able to snipe someone from the other side of the cradle with the pp7 though. :P

I like how they left out the crosshair just like in the original though. [Unless you hold shift so you're forced to walk.]
nope.
