2007-01-05, 4:45 AM #41
its scattered across my hard drive in a cranky mess.

Artist\Year - Album\Track # - Title.ext

Music\Prog
or Music\Not Prog

But seriously, for the organised stuff it's

Artist\Year - Album Title\Track# - Track Title.ogg

Th iTunes default. I love iTunes' ripping, beats Winamp's "Let's rip to a winamp-only format, unless you pay us!"
I had a blog. It sucked.

Keep in mind that you paid for iTunes, too.

Why does everyone have trouble finding ripping software...

I hate to say it, but Windows Media Player has a perfectly capable ripping section that (if you change the option!) will rip to MP3 in whatever quality you want.

I have lots of disorganised music, but the music that is organised is like this:

Artist - Album\Artist - Album - # - Title.mp3 or ogg

Example:
Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire - Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs\Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire - Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs - 03 - A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left.mp3
I'm just a little boy.

I thought that iTunes ripped it to some random format too. :/
nope.

I don't like to learn new things, so i seem to always use iTunes to rip CDs to my Linux partition, then set Rhythmbox to scan ~/Documents/My Music/iTunes Music/(artist)/(album).

AAC by default, but a lot of programs can play that and you can tell it to rip in mp3 instead.

I rip with crip under FreeBSD. It's simple and it works.

iTunes sucks!

shoot yourself! :)

i dont get my music legally but itunes is handy as hell at uni because the internet connection doesnt work well and its a good way for everyone to network their songs with each other, making itunes the #1 choice for people who dislike paying for music.

Seriously? I've never tried because I thought it was legally obtainable only

AAC is the better choice, for two reasons. AAC is a better codec, and iTunes' MP3 encoder blows more than a Hong Kong hooker.

Seriously. EAC in the simple mode is pretty easy and foolproof. CDex isn't too bad, either. MusikCube has an even easier interface, and encodes with LAME right out of the box.
