To make a short story long, I got into the musical "Oklahoma!" at my high school and we've been rehersing for a month. My character, Old Man Carnes, needs a shotgun. All I know is that the shotgun needs to be from the 1800's. We have several selections, but does anyone know what the best kind would be for this production?

Probably not a real one. :p You know how irrational people get around guns. :p Just find a prop. It's just a play, any will do.

I pretty sure no one would give a real, antique shotgun to a group of kids.

Hey, Carousel is one of the best damn things on stage, but I'll grant you Oklahoma! wasn't one of their best. >:D

Massassi has to be the worst place to get advice from, since nobody has even answered the question. I learned my lesson.

Hey, you got two whole advice posts. That's pretty good!

You probably don't want a real gun on stage anyway, largely because it would be too heavy and awkward.

I believe the PTA won't like the "real" part.

Nothing this correct has been said about this place in a long time.

Yet it would usually go like this:

I went to Oklahoma once when I was like, less than 5 years old. All I remember about it was the hotel we stayed at (had an awesome game room), and seeing painted grass (it was this horrific blue-ish green).

I was in the King and I when I was in 4th grade.

I was one of the little kids.

We have that all over OSU right now. It's not just paint, it's a kind of chemical fertilizer or something. I actually am not sure the chemical itself is naturally blue, I think it's just so that they don't spray the same place twice. I don't know this for sure, it's just what I've gathered and heard from a few people, so take it with a grain of salt.

Well, problem solved, they have given us a real gun.

Hmm, I don't know if I'd say the problem is solved. It seems more likely a new one has been created.

I was going to suggest a P90. I don't think anyone would notice the difference. ;-)

I did. Way to ignore the advice that I gave freely. Way to ignore the time I took out of my day to help you. You are a worthless and ungrateful human being and should be banished from the earth.

Sorry Obi, I did not take into account that a "prop" gun is an answer
