It's my turn at one of these poll threads :D

For me, I fill the cup up halfway with ice then fill it with soda.

It depends:

If it's water, and it's a really hot day, at least half the container should be ice.

Otherwise, if it's any other sort of drink (like soda), very little to no ice.

Totally depends on a lot of factors!

Water: As much as I can fit in the glass.
Coke: I usually drink from the can, so none. Unless it's outside and REALLY hot, then 1/4.
Milk: Uh, none? Does anyone actually put ice in it?
Ice Tea: 1/2 cup

the bigger question should be, ice then liquid or liquid then ice.

and to answer this one, 2 ice cubes unless its a larger than normal cup

Ice is just a nuisance. It freezes together then slides down at random to hit you in the face. It makes drinks too cold to consume quickly. Water/liquid is always cold enough for me. No need to add ice.

It should be duly noted, however, that at all fast food restraunts I get NO ICE.

Get like 3 times the amount of coke that way.

I prefer no ice. Ice tends to be annoying. It always just slides down and rests there are my lip, making it very uncomfortable. Or if I'm using a straw, it gets in the way of that last little bit left. Not to mention, it takes up space that could be used for more drink.

Exactly. At Uni, I feel cheated when I order a soda at the places at the food court and they fill it 1/2 full of ice. (at these places, refills are not free)

I don't like ice in general except when its hot, in which case I take what falls in the cup.

Depends. I'm trying to lessen my intake of soda, so I've started filling my cups about half-way or more so that I drink less soda. When I'm drinking a mixed drink, I'll fill it about 1/3 with ice.

Don't like ice. Too cold, waters down the drink, and gives you less liquid. The only time I ever have ice is sometimes in mixed drinks, and even then, only if they came that way. If I'm making the drink myself I use no ice.

I join the no ice folk. The reasons have already been stated by others.

For some reason it also bothers me to throw a cardboard cup into a trashcan with the ice that didn't yet melt inside. I feel the ice (water) doesn't belong among the trash.

Eh, if I feel like putting ice on my drink (whatever it is), I usually put 1 piece first, if that doesn't cool it down properly, then I put more.

If I get ice, usually only a couple pieces. At fast food places and the like, I only tap the button on the machine and that gets me enough.

I only put ice in coffee. With coffee there are always straws available and it lets me get my caffeine in a hurry, I have a low heat tolerance and can't drink it black unless I let it sit there for upwards of ten minutes to cool off.

Ice in beverages is just ridiculous without a straw, I hate trying to drink from a glass and getting cut off by a piece of ice.

It does have non-drinking uses that can be fun though.

I request for no ice for soda bought at the movie theatre. It's ridiculous how much ice they put in there.

I rarely drink beverages with ice. The only time I do is when I go out to eat. In those cases, I fill it up with no more than 1/4 of the cup.

Less liquid being the main reason, but it annoys me how americans will put ice in everything even if it is already cold like at places where you fill your own drinks. The soft drinks are already freezing! why ice? Tastes so much better without it.

No ice unless it's a special occasion or really hot.

I can never be bothered to prepare or buy ice anyway. Even when I do have ice I only have about 3 pieces.

Furthermore, that's the inuit that live in them, not the finnish. The finnish blast some of their metal music at a forest and hope it falls in the shape of a house. o:

Anyway, I'm usually not too concerned about ice cubes, if they aren't present, no worries, as long as it's not above room temperature I'll be content. If they are present, that's fine too, I'll drink the cubes once they've turned into water. o: Or slide one into my mouth if I'm bored enough.
