privacy question..
2007-01-09, 10:03 AM #1
Ok, I have a key logger I run on my computer just to keep track of how people (friends, family) use my computer if I'm not around. As of lately I've had more spyware pop ups then ever and it really pisses me off.

In the mean-time I met a chick, a really cool chick and I really like her. We aren't really dating yet, but we are if you know what I mean. She comes over and gets on myspace. She tells me that these guys message her all the time and that even some of my friends on myspace have been messaging her, asking if she is single.. blah blah..

I'm not worried because she is a very trust worthy girl, but at the same time I am very curious, and even though we aren't really a couple yet. I find it disrespectful that my friends are going over my back.

Is it wrong for me to invade her myspace privacy? Do I have this right because she used my computer, which happens to have a key logger? :P I'm just tring to find justice on the subject so I dont feel guilty if I do it.

You have a right to know what she's accessing on your computer and what she might be downloading. However, once it goes into the realm that is the Internet, you have no right (other than knowing what site she is visiting).

If you two are "dating" then I would consider making it official. That may resolve the issue of her being asked if she is single by other the guys you know.
2007-01-09, 10:18 AM #5
Yeah you guys are right.. it's very tempting but I wont do it out of respect for her. And yes, we do need to make it official maybe I wont worry about it so much.

Bah, if you're worried enough to look, then you don't trust her enough to start a relationship.

However, I might do it just to see what THEY say. I have no problem seeing what my ******* friends are saying to the girl I'm interested in.

Although, that, too, could bite you in the ***.

Doesn't matter that you don't trust your friends. It doesn't matter if they are hitting on her, blah blah. If you trust her, you have to trust that she won't do anything with them. Of course, if she doesn't consider you her boyfriend, all bets are off.
2007-01-09, 12:05 PM #10
Hell. Go for it. It's your damned computer.

EDIT: I don't even let my long-time girlfriend on my computer. She's got her own.

It's natural to be worried when you start seeing someone. You don't know them all that well, and if you think you know them all that well to trust them completely, you've got a good chance to be fooled.

That wouldn't advocate spying, though. But I would say do it, just for the hell of it.

...of a KFC bucket.

Invading her privacy isn't going to make you feel better. I'd bet that she has some old messages in there from people that aren't connected to you in anyway, and those might make you feel angry.

Hmm, the way I see.

A. If you were dating and you suspected cheating, I dunno, that might be okay, it kind of depends.

B. Give the password to someone on here without a soul and let them do it :v:

Mask your moral’s with hypnoses where you are a young dashing spy infiltrating a hotbed of enemy code in search for the location of the new secret weapon which is aimed at all of the capitols of every country. Time is of the essence though and a failure to act might trigger thousands of colossal events which will make every reproductive system on the human man inactive for the rest of his life. And all woman will be twice as attractive just to spite as all. Oh the horror!!!

Or you could just mind your own bisnatch and let your so called friends scare her away with their cunning and distasteful advances. Though that never happens. So do something else, but mind your own business, just like everyone else said.

I don't think you should do it anyways. Part of the fun about relationships is trust.

And for you, the fear that she might start cheating on you.

We had one where whats-his-face used a keylogger on his GFs computer and got really pissed at her or something, it was ridiculous.

Why are you respecting women? How can you do anything, or not, out of respect for her? She is female. She does not get respect, she gets ****ed!

I knew a guy who wanted to have an investigator investigate his girlfriend, who he didn't even suspect of cheating. A friend of his used one on her husband, who actually was cheating, and this guy thought 'why the hell not?'

Not sure why you'd want to open that can of worms, but whatever.

i put a keylogger on this computer to catch my mom cheating on my dad, it took me awhile to tell him cause i didnt know how at first. but it seems like they are working it out

but its ur future girlfriend, just think if u look now, how bad u will feel and when u tell her later on u looked she will be pissed as no other mother. so i say dont look

If they're asking if she's single - and if she is - how is that going behind your back..? You're not even dating her!
woot!

It's fun to snoop.
2007-01-10, 12:45 AM #34
Appears I'm late to the party, but I'll say it anyway:

I can't think of anything you would find by snooping that's going to make you feel better, and I can think of a lot of things you could find that would make you feel worse. Ignoring concerns of right and wrong, and thinking just of your own peace of mind, I'd recommend not doing it.

Or he had sex with her, so now they're officially going out.

I find it suspicious how you use a keylogger apparently without telling the people you let use your computer about it.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

trust is inportant in a relationship, but there is always room for doubt. Just because you have doubt, doesn't mean you can't love
