I have beryl too, I just don't use it because it and MythTV don't play well together.

Do you use XGL or AIGLX? XGL was just a dirty hack and the reason why it's not working properly. I've had no problems since I switched to AIGLX.

Hmm. I was wondering about switching to AIGLX, but it doesn't support ATI cards as well, does it?

Depends on the driver. The fglrx driver that ATI puts out lacks a function necessary to use AIGLX, but if your card can get direct rendering with the open source driver, AIGLX works just fine (that's what I use).

Nothing works well with Linux ATi drivers. Getting them to work is a task in of itself.

I am using XGL, because I must rely on fglrx for 3d capabilities.

Sucks, I know. However, ATI is supposed to be releasing AIGLX support within the next few releases. Now if only they supported XvMC...
