Hahaha, who remembers Project Grizzly?

Project Grizzly was that suit this crazy canadian made that would allow him to survive a grizzly bear mauling him. Well now he's turning his focus to the Canadian and U.S. militaries.

Ballistic exoskeleton armor.

It looks like a great hold-over until Crye and its partners finish the PCV.

Really, he just needs to work on the visibility for the soldier.

Great, an excuse to use the new youtube tags:

I particularly like the placing of the clock :P

Well, he's certainly got charisma.

Holy stormtrooper.

Let an actual scientist get ahold of that and I see some serious potential.

Oh, by the way. That totally isn't going to keep you from getting your fingers blown off. :P

Real scientists are working on things far better. But if this works as well as he says, then it'd be, as I said, a good hold-over.

I think the "research" he did on mobility is where this shines.

But thats about the only thing.
2007-01-19, 11:56 PM #13
Yeah, the hardest thing for him now is to get the military to run their own battery of tests to see how well it stops ballistics.

Heard of dragon skin? It's a type of body armor made from "scales" of aluminum oxide (ceramic) discs. It's been on TV several times, where they show it taking a full barrage from three MP3s that do absolutely nothing to it.

Yeah, I hear it's a little too expensive right now though, or will only be introduced to very specific soldiers.

Read the article on the Trojan a while back, but the video is new to me.

And I think Roach is right about the DragonSkin; even though it kicks ***, I think the cost is too high.

Hmmm...looks like I was wrong, as of one year ago, Special Forces, USAF (probably PJs), intel agency paramilitary forces, and presidential protection detail, as well as some SWAT teams have been using Dragon Skin. But, it looks like the Army is trying to make the Interceptor armor look better.

Ah, so it's in use, just not universal acceptance.

That guy is out of his league. He should've left bear wrestling to the professionals like Zangief, and he should leave vital military armor to people who aren't out of their ****ing mind.

That was pretty cool. The guy definitely is a character. Star Wars and Halo as references? LOL! The design looks like he tried to make it look sensational. However, if it can be an economical solution for soldiers in the Iraqi war zone, then I hope he takes it to its full potential.

The laser pointer was clever. Simply look at the target and signal the sniper to find your dot.

Did anyone notice the lack of armor at the neck?

His suit has boobies.

The best bit is at the end where he gets hit in the head with a bat.

Well he was removing the helmet a bit, and it does come down quite low. I imagine for actual use they'd have a hardened neck seal.

I couldn't help but laugh when the guy talked. Reminded me so much of TROOPS.

Unfortunately, now looking a little closer to the suit, they'll have to redesign the shoulders to allow for accurate shooting. Being bullet proof isn't very useful if you can't hit who's shooting you.

Now he just needs to add in some hydraulics and servomotors or whatever so you can run at 50 km/h and smash through 2 inch thick steel doors.

Also a jetpack would be cool.
