2006 US Federal Taxes

Just curious how many people here have already looked at what you might get back or have to pay yet. I generally look forward to tax time because I usually overpay enough throughout the year that I get a nice return. This year my return is going to be absolutely ridiculous. I only had about $979 withheld throughout the year and my return looks to be about $6200. Not only will I get back all of the nearly $1000 withheld from my pay in 2006 but over $5000 beyond that. Of course I plan of filing for all I'm entitled for but my conservative conscience feels a little guilty.

Now of course I have a somewhat special, though hardly rare, situation. Most of my pay for '06 isn't taxable due to eight months of the year being in a combat zone. So even though I earned around $50K I only have $10K taxable income.

Oh well, my return will go towards debt. Or a downpayment for another house.

I'm hoping I'll get about $1k back...should get my W2 within the week, though! :)

I'll owe under $2.5k on my truck by then, so the tax return will hopefully contribute significantly..hoping to get it paid off by May!
woot!

I hate tax season. Now that I'm out of school I usually end up owing several hundred dollars since I don't have that nice tax deduction anymore.

350 dollars. I only worked for like 3 months at a 7 dollar an hour fast food joint...not bad.

I don't think I made enough last year to need to pay anything.

1040EZ ftw. It's not hard, unless you have complicated stuff. :)

I imagine I'll get around 60 bucks back from my summer job. Tax time is fun for poor folkes like me.

Now that I'm working for a non-profit Christian school I have no idea what my taxes will be like, though. *shrug*

I'm guessing around $300-$400 between federal and state, though I made over $7000 in just under 6 months. I also have made a little from interest and dividends though, so that won't help. I had $461 federal and $111 state withheld.

I might get some money back. 2006 was the first year I ever broke the $4500 level for having to file.

I have 4 W2s this year (2 full-time jobs and 2 contract jobs) and have yet to receive 2 of them. Every penny that I get back will go to paying my student loan. I'm hoping to begin quadrupling my payments soon (already doubling).

I'm still waiting for two of my W-2s and once they come in I'll have my mom do my taxes.
