At least, that's how old my dog would have been had he lived one more day. On July 1, he apparently began exhibiting symptoms of pancreatitis, though we did not recognize them as such. He became unable to walk, but we assumed that, having spent a good bit standing at the groomer's, his arthritis had gotten the better of him for a bit. He drank water and food when brought to him, but wouldn't go to it himself.

We eventually had to take him to a veterinary hospital in Stillwater, Oklahoma (we were, at the time, visiting my grandparents, taking him and our other dog with us). He was given intravenous nutrients, but they didn't sustain him enough. He died early morning on July 4, 2004. It was just a matter of time, anyway -- the pancreatitis had also given him an enlarged heart, which would have killed him had the disease not.

So we had him cremated, and his ashes now sit upon our secretary next to some clippings of his fur and an imprint of his paw.

Well, he's probably on the other side, got his balls again, and strolling the happy hunting grounds with his dog buddies. My dog died of heat stroke at 15. Maybe your dog and my dog are friends now.
