Meh. Oblivion was enough for me. I can't imagine going back through more of it.
I had a blog. It sucked.

in the video they say that it's totally different from Oblivion.
(i still need to finish oblivion 1st :P)

I want that.

It looks cool enough. I wish they'd added new gameplay, not more. IE Spears, crossbows, capes, cloth, etc.

The title of that makes me want a pirate themed MMO.

I thought there was already an expansion, or at least I've seen something in the shops.

Either way I still hate the elder scrolls.
nope.
2007-01-27, 12:13 PM #9
i think what you saw was knights of the nine.

Which is?
nope.

An official mod, not an expansion.

Bleck I've had enough of Oblivion's disgusting LOD crap. I don't see myself playing through popping up landscape again.

Popping landscape > Silent Hill fog.

I'll only play it if they add awesome Dark Messiah style combat.

GREAT GAME.

Just a little too short. :(
I never get tired of that ice on the ground trick. :P

Too damn short like Rob said. And load times were HORRENDOUS. 1gb of RAM, and still 5 minute load times for 6 minutes of gaming.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I'll definatly give it a go. I'll probably play through it in one sitting at one point in the winter months where its too cold and too boring to do anything else.

Heh. I'm surprised that the news took this long to appear here. I first heard about this weeks ago (then again, I'm probably one of the few here who still actively play Oblivion). Still, SI does look pretty damn entertaining (as long as its better than that poorly made quest from Knights of The Nine).

Those of you who stopped playing Oblivion have yet to discover Obscuro's Oblivion Overhall. Maybe someone day you'll clue in. ;)

There's really no way to avoid it short of doing everything with isosurfaces. That's quite possible with raytracing but it's completely impossible with raster hardware. The only cards that could theoretically support it are DX10 cards, but they're nowhere near fast enough (and they never will be).

Invent a supercomputer-on-a-chip massively parallel vector processor with a hardware scenegraph and we'll talk.

*nods* I guess you are right.

Just wish it would've been handled differently. While I realize WoW is a low poly game, when you had your max distance maxed out (and you could check off LOD terrain) you could see buildings pretty darn far off and terrain would never reshape in front of your eyes.

I of course realize they could not pull this off with speedtree forests and what not, but I guess I would've given up on the viewing distance for some fog of war if it would have meant things wouldn't pop up in my face so. I mean I never had this problem with morrowind.

I think the worste part had the be the seams between outdoor cells, they were so obvious.

I think the worst part of oblivion were the hills all of a sudden turning into paths if you were going too fast >_>

That's true, but all we really want is for it to be compensated for better, not eliminated. And Oblivion could certainly compensated for it better. Oh, well. I suppose in a year or two we'll just be able to set the u_gridstoload variable to some huge number like 15 or 17 and it will be a non issue.
