Boston's got a little trouble
2007-01-31, 2:18 PM #1
This is amazing, I'm only posting a fox news link because they mention the crux of the hilarity where cnn doesn't.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,249110,00.html
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/31/suspicious.packages.ap/index.html

A friend just called me to tell me, not sure on the details yet.
Steal my dreams and sell them back to me.....

Haha, I love the ridiculous scare tactics on the fox news video. They still refer to the lights as bombs, fake bombs, and suspicious devices even after the guy explained how they were basically just like light brights put up around the city.

Hahaha.... gee... I wonder why CNN doesn't have any thoughts on it?[/sarcasm]

EDIT: Hold up. CNN just posted a story about how it's ATHF related.

Cartoon Network funds terrorist...I KNEW it
2007-01-31, 3:00 PM #6
Did the Fox article say that the bomb squad actually blew up one of the boxes?!

I guess I can understand the suspicion, seeing how they aren't your traditional, obvious advertisment. If they said "Cartoon Network" on them I bet people wouldn't have freaked out so much.

When Fox News updates a story, they tend to just put the new information at the top and not edit the earlier parts. So thats what your probably seeing. I've seen this happen on many different news posts from Fox News.
Life is beautiful.

I love the grumpy, sheepish remarks of the duped bureaucrats after things like this.

People are way too paranoid.

Am I the only one who actually likes viral marketing? It's nice to see something fresh and different.
2007-01-31, 10:34 PM #20

Don't you need some kind of approval for placíng marketing signs (or any such objects) to public places? At least I think it's like that over here. Otherwise businesses would just spread their (often ****ty) ads everywhere and ruin the looks of the town and especially roadsides, and even obstruct visibility and thus hinder general safety.

Well, I don't know how it's in the US, though.

Wait... I still don't understand why people thought these were bombs.

Well, these things aren't easily recognized as ads. They had duck-tape and wires coming out of them. And the fact these were placed on important transportation locations didn't help.

The is also the fact: these ads (same components) were placed in other major cities. Only Boston reacted.

I like how news station blur out the middle finger.
