Sloppy game but Colts deserve win because they were less sloppy.
Fav ads:

Atlas monster one was entertaining

Ads rather disappointing all around. Budweiser managed to screw up some potentially funny ones. Like the talking ape

Just got back from watching it at a a friend's house. Grossman won the game for the Colts. Good job Sexy Rexy, maybe you'll get signed by Oakland next year.

The only two memorable commercials were the "I threw a rock" and the guy picking up the hitchhiker with an axe Bud commercials.

Also, I just want to say that not only did I predict the Colts would win, but moments before the opening kickoff, I turned to the guy sitting next to me and said, "Devin Hester is going to score on this return." Others who were in the bar can back me up on this statement.

I'm not a big fan of football, but the game wasn't that great. There were a few cool moments but that's about it.

As usual, the commercials were the best. Especially the one about Robert Goulet sneaking in and destroying the office at 3 PM. Hahaha, that was AWESOME.

The half-time show was pretty good too.

I'm sorry, was I the only one who noticed the blown coverages, complete lack of pressure, and piss poor tackling by the Bears defense? The Colts punted what, two times? And you honestly thing this team would have won that game by a simple change at quarterback? Quit calling yourself a football fan.. you're a "ooohhh pretty passes!" fan.

The Chicago Bears defeated the Chicago Bears, awarding the Lombardi Trophy by default to the Indianapolis Colts.

No, not a change, but at least a competent one that doesn't look like a antelope with four broken legs surrounded by 12 lions that are hungry. So...maybe that does mean a change, don't know. Not saying they should've made the change last night, but definitley earlier in the year. You know that even the coaching staff doesn't have faith in him when they keep running on 3rd and 6/7.

Also, I will also say that I was right by calling that Rex Grossman's "F*** it I'm going deep" philosophy wouldn't work because of the Tampa 2 defense with the extra safety. What do you know, everytime Rex Grossman "f***ed it" and went deep, he was met by a cornerback, AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW, another safety.

Of course DA BEARS defeated themselves on both sides of the ball. But it was more poignant on the offensive side with what 3 turnovers? 4? Shoddy defense is one thing, but if your defense is sucking, just keep the ball away from the opposing team and you have a chance. ****, Indy did that the whole goddamn season! However, throwing into double coverage WHILE being pressured is about the same as just walking over to the RCB and handing the football to them and pointing to the end-zone. There was very little "pretty" in the passes of Rex Grossman.

And that saftey was RIGHT there to snag that ball away from the receiver's mitts.

Snake, that's nice and all, but obviously by posting that link you have completely given up your argument, admitted you're wrong, and trying to come up with excuses. Not to mention it's still hard to argue that Brett Favre isn't good when he has what...50,000 passing yards....some 400 Touchdowns....played for like 1,000,000 years straight. He's been very very borderline average as of late, but he's certainly been no Rex Grossman.

I believe it was Rex Grossman in the Super Bowl, not the Packers. I like how you think sticking it to the Packers cuz I'm in Wisconsin gives you some kind of pleasure, but it doesn't apply to this argument. Then again, you are wrong, so you can't think of anything else to say probably because we are all right.

I couldn't sleep, so I watched most of the last half. NFL hasn't been on free tv down here for about 12 years now, so I haven't watched much for a long while. But neither the commentators nor the players seemed all that excited? In the last minute the commentators were discussing random stuff and how one guy nearly got tackled. For the players, the celebrations were all over in about 3 minutes and then the award ceremonies began?

I've never watched the superbowl before, so I'm basically comparing it to Rugby world cup/aussie rules grand finals, but for winning one of the biggest sporting events in the US, I thought they'd be a bit more excited.
2007-02-06, 5:46 AM #73
I don't think it's fair to call out the Chicago defense. They kept Indianapolis from jumping out to an early lead, and forced three turnovers, four punts (two first-quarter three-and-outs, two near the end with the outcome still in question) and one loss on downs. They held the Indianapolis offense to 22 points (can't count the interception return against them) despite being on the field for 38 minutes and 81 plays. That is really not that bad. They're essentially getting skewered over a single blown coverage and some spotty pass-rushing against one of the best pass-protection units in the league.

GHORG, it was a pretty low-key celebration this year compared to years past. Teams often take on the personality qualities of their coaches. In the Colts' case, Tony Dungy is a pretty calm and reserved guy. Also, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Colts would win once they went up by 12 points. If there'd been a little more tension in the game, you'ld probably have seen the players more excited. As it was, they'd had a good part of the fourth quarter to get used to the idea of winning a championship.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

indy won because they were the better team, and the best in the league this year. simple as that

I'm not wrong... when Avenger and you say things like "Rex Grossman is the only thing in their way of a superbowl win" you imply that the Bears must be the best team in the league apart from their QB.

The funny thing is they had the exact same team last year, and the defense was statistically better, but they went 1 and done in the playoffs. Yet somehow this years team was way better than last years, and there was only 1 difference, and that was Grossman at QB all year instead of Orton.

And hell yes I'm goin after your Packers after living in that state for all those years when the Bears were bad and Packers were... mediocre but got lucky enough to win. Now they flat out suck, Favre's gonna start needing Vicodin again soon enough from the arthritis pain, and the heir apparent to his throne, Aaron Rodgers, would be lucky to sniff anywhere near Grossman's record 26 games into his career, AND he's just as injury prone (how many snaps did he play before he got put on IR?)

Anyway, pleasurable as it is to rub how much the Packers suck in your face, I'll just quit twisting the knife right here.

BTW, here's Favre's first full year as a starter, compared to Grossman:

Favre: ATT 522 COMP 318 PCT 60.9 YDS3303 Y/A6.33 TD 19 INT 24 RATING 72.2

Grossman: ATT 480 COMP 262 PCT 54.6 YDS3193 Y/A 6.65 TD 23 INT 20 RATING 73.9

First ballot Hall of Famer you say? Interesting.
