that a friend of mine, someone I used to work, with was killed last night.

He and a friend of his were doing something with a gun and it went off, hitting him in the head.

A bunch of us who knew him are in shock, it's not quite real yet. I mean, I just saw him early last night, apparently only a few hours before he was shot...
I wasn't one of his close friends, but I'm good friends with some who were really close to him and I can't imagine what they're going through right now...

I'm sorry to hear about that. I would offer some advice, but I don't have any for this situation.
My blawgh.

Man, people really don't understand how careful you have to be with those things. :(

I always get weirded out when I think about how suddenly someone I know might be gone... luckily no one's died yet...

My sympathies.

Sorry to hear that.

Of course, I'm still afraid of blowing my head off in the army, but eh.

Modern firearms don't all the sudden "go off", someone pulled the trigger
2007-02-05, 7:07 AM #11
this is why i always check the chamber and magazine of any firearm before i do anything with it not related to firing the weapon

I don't mean to **** on the situation either but...

Yeah, messing around with a loaded firearm deserves a darwin award.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've lost friends in the past, I know how it feels.

"Never dissassemble the gun by yourself, which will cause the trouble and dangerous"

Words to live by indeed.
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."
2007-02-05, 2:18 PM #16
You can disregard that no disassembly. That only applies because that manual is written for a bb gun.

You SHOULD know how to disassemble your firearm and perform light maintenance and cleaning.

That sucks.

A teacher at my school died and the weekend, and I just found out about an hour ago. This saddens me. He was only in his early 30s and died of cancer, however most of the schools known he was terminal for a while, he stopped teaching about a year ago when he fell ill, and after was diagnosed with cancer. He's left behind 2 twin girls that are only about 1 and a half.

:(
nope.

Do I know him by chance? I haven't heard of anyone I know dying from fooling around with a gun, but I haven't talked to you lately.

I really hope it wasn't Brian...

i really doubt brian would handle a loaded firearm in a way that would cause a neglegent discharge

That's hard to hear. I remember when my music teacher died. Sad day.

Gosh I feel like a fool for playing Assassins reading this.

Guys, we're talking about someone who died. Please, for the love of being just the slightest bit sensitive, stop cracking jokes in the thread. It's highly disrespectful.

I'm going to have to agree. It's always tough when someone you know dies, regardless of how it happened.

I agree with that, but this is Massassi. Finding respectful posts from here is highly unlikely.

Man, come on Rob. For once I have to agree with Yoshi. The thread poster's friend died. I know you've got as much of a heart as you've got a chin (:P), but if you can't be at least respectful and wish your sympathies, don't post. Losing a friend is hard enough without people making fun of him too, no matter how he died. :/

This thread is a perfect example why matters like these don't fit into Massassi.

It wouldn't even have to be about a gun accident.

"Hey my friend died of cancer :(" "Well, why was he stupid enough to get one in the first place? :downs: People die all the time, get over it."

"Hey, my mom got raped :(" "Well, why did she have a vagina in the first place? :downs: People get raped all the time, get over it."

"Hey guys, Brian just died from a heart attack :(" "There's still 6 billion people left. Your point?"

I can see those happening, too. But so can everyone else.

Luckily I'm outstandingly polite.

I never knew the guy, so I can't say anything about it. Sucks for you.

But then again "two of my friends were carelessly pissing around with a loaded gun. one of them is dead now" kinda urges a "****ing duh" out of me.

FGR, the difference is that in those examples you gave, it wasn't the fault of the victim.

In this case, it's not known for certain, but chances are good that it involved a lot of stupidity on teh part of both people.
