Has anyone ever heard of these?

I've been thinking lately how I'd like a tablet for note taking, but the price really turned me off. These seem like a great alternative, if they work well.

I also found this one, looks similar:

Has anyone used/seen one of these? I'd like to know how good they are at capturing your pen strokes.

If they made one that was waterproof that could use Word files I'd be ****ing SOLD and so would UPS air operations.

I have a well organized system for storing files for my individual classes. It'd be awesome to be able to look up notes for said classes without having to find my old notebooks (not to mention they're taking up space). Also, it'd be easier to share notes with friends instead of having to scan them.

I want one but cant find one to buy anywhere. Says they are available immediately, I guess immediately is taking a while.

edit: How does this work? I was reading some reviews and it says you actually write on paper?? Why the hell would you write on paper if you could just write on the digital screen or something? Someone explain how this works.

The way I understand it, it has no screen. Have you ever seen a graphics tablet for a desktop PC? I think this is essentially the same thing, only with paper on top of it. It stores your notes digitally, then you just transfer them to PC (and you already have a hard copy, because you wrote it on paper).

I'm not sure where to find the Genius one, but the Adesso one on newegg that I linked to is in stock.

Uh...those cost as much as a graphics tablet unless I'm mistaken. A good 6x8 one is like 200 on newegg, could probably find one for less on pricegrabber.com

I believe they double as a graphics tablet.

Couldn't say, but graphics tablets have different sensitivity settings, come with software which interacts innately with it in a lot of different ways, etc etc. They're probably more sophisticated than those, though I couldn't say for sure as I haven't really done much research on the items in question.
