Dr Massassi, a small question.

Right, this isn't exactly a proper "halp me massassis" question, I'm just wondering why is it that I still seem to have darker circles under my eyes even after a great nights sleep? Every so often I notice that they're not there, but the majority of the time they are. I mean they'll still be there after multiple nights in a row with a great sleep.

So, is there a reason for this or a way to fix my eyes? :P
nope.

Have you been staring at something hours and hours, like a computer/television screen?

Almost everyone gets dark circles under their eyes from time to time. Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern.

You may be surprised to learn that fatigue usually isn't the cause of dark circles. Instead, the most common cause is nasal congestion. When your nose is congested, veins that usually drain from your eyes into your nose become widened (dilated) and darker.

Another cause of undereye circles is eyelid swelling during sleep. When you lie down, gravity can cause fluid to collect in your lower eyelids. This swelling may create the appearance of shadows below your eyes. In addition, dark circles can result from chronic skin conditions, such as atopic eczema. Dark circles can also run in families.

Over-the-counter products may help diminish dark circles under eyes. Look for skin creams that contain vitamin C or K, alpha hydroxy acid and kinetin. Treatment for chronic and severe undereye circles is directed at the underlying cause, if known, and may include bleaching agents and laser therapy.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Inbreeding can cause thin skin under the eyes.

Also thin lips. Do you have thin lips?
2007-02-16, 8:15 AM #12
Thin as in narrow and not puffy, or thin as in the skin over them is frail and easily broken?
Wikissassi sucks.

Pfft.

You don't get to make link replies.

Almost every post you make should be on Live Journal.

Odd as this sounds, this does work. I've not tried it personally, but I have close family who have and it relieves the puffiness that causes the circles. They're actually blood vessels that are loaded down with non-oxygenated blood cells. That's what causes the darkness.
