What's all this 'Nanny' Nonsense?

I just saw one episode of Nanny 911 and I don't see anything to special to it. My debate club teacher told me it was a great show, but I see nothing great about it. Seems almost stupid. She wants me to tell her what I thought about the show and the only think I can think of is stupid.

Does any one see anything great about this show? Can you tell me? I mean here you have parents that don't know how to be parents with some woman who has a British accent (seems fake) telling the family what to do. "You are going to sit on the chair and think about what you did wrong. The chair of time out." Seems like brainwash to me.

Don't let stupid people confuse you into thinking bad things are good.

Interesting, Cartman makes a good point in "Tzzt" about how these 'Nannys' had friends who had children and ended up just going on with life while these 'Nannys' not having any of their own making them resort to becoming TV nannys.

She's supposed to be strict but she's not. I saw fifteen minutes of it a few months ago.

They should do a show where some crazy Dickens character beats the crap out of the kids at any provocation.

This show follows the exact same formula every time:

The childrens' bad behavior is caused by the husband's negativity and laziness. The nanny gives him an ultimatum and the family lives happily ever after almost immediately. I hate this show.

Maybe you could form an argument as to why it's stupid. You are going to be discussing this with your debate club teacher, afterall.

Personally, I see the nanny shows as being similar to Dr. Phil and other quick-fix programming. Serious problems generally take more time and effort to solve than the shows imply, and that could have a negative influence on the viewers (enough people's lives are composed of a series of mediocre, half-assed actions as it is, we shouldn't be encouraging it as a good thing).

I hate any TV shows that incorperate a camera following around "average people" tring to act like there is not a camera following them.

Freelancer is right (this time). All these shows are the same. "Men are lazy/stupid and everything is their fault." Dr. Phil is a disgrace to men everywhere.
Wikissassi sucks.

I'm proud to say I've never watched any Nanny show.

Is it possible that your teacher has kids and sees some underlying relevance that you a childless (?) Massassian, doesn't? I mean, married folk look at things different than singles. Same with parents and non-parents. Two totally different worlds.

Just watch Blackadder instead. That'll give you a laugh. Oh, and tell your teacher, it will blow her away.

I'm happy that I don't have TV.

We actually watched a few minutes of Nanny 911 in my Atypical Development of Children and Adolescents class. It was just used as a case study.

Granted, I hate that class.
