So I just got a quote from WGC Shop telling me shipping/fees will be around $80 for a new airsoft gun.

Hesitant to pay so much, I find the exact same gun on ebay for the same price, with only $20 shipping.

I bid... someone bids higher. I bid again, someone bids higher. I bid again and set my max bid at 145.

I watch for 15 minutes as NO one else bids.

I count down the last 45 seconds, hitting refresh constantly.

At the last possible moment (5 seconds or so) someone outbids me and gets the gun.

It just... sucks. BAD.

i never understood the appeal of airsoft... especially considering the prices of some airsoft guns... i saw an airsoft AK-47 that cost $400... i can get a semi-auto Romanian AK for $250-300

I hate e-bay because of all of the bid sniping.

I would rather buy something outright than to have some little punk come and steal the auction in the last 10 seconds by paying an extra 50 cents.

Does ebay let you set a buyout price like in WoW? Because I find that cuts down on the bid sniping a lot.

Thats why I just do the buy it now ones on ebay. Then I have no worries.

If you're willing to bid more, bid more! Even with bid sniping you'd have to set some kind of limit in the program you use.

ive seen a bid sniper situation where 2 snipers both tossed in rather insane max bids on a game... someone ended up with a $255 winning bid on a copy of Oblivion way beyond the $15 max bid i had going

If any good came of this, it is that thanks to me the guy that beat me had to pay 40+ more dollars than he needed to.

If someone outbid me by a few dollars I wouldn't complain, but these guys are just out to steal the auction.

Also at times I wonder how many of the bids on an item (if there are a lot of bids) are real bids and how many are shill bids made by the seller's friends to drive up the price.

I thought the last bid was always half a dollar above the second to last bid anyway.
