I don't think you can really say with a certainty that you can't believe something. I can't really say that it's absolutely possible for you to believe something either.

I agree, but in the case where I'm not supposed to be able to comprehend something I am supposed to believe that is my response.

Never, EVER, did I say we weren't animals. We just had something more that seperates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.

See, again, no offense to you, but ideas like this just confuse me. There is NO WAY you have looked into what you are opposed to if you think this way.

The WHOLE POINT of the Christian concept of the condescension of God (there is a fancier latin term the Catholics use, can't recall what it is) is that it makes an impossibility a possibility. He came down to human level and form so that we could understand the most important part, not the whole thing (right now).

Of course, a sensible God would allow you a chance to take on belief in the afterlife. Not send you to hell because you died as an unbaptised child.

I'm in the clear then. If god is sensible he will show himself at some point (afterlife or regular). If he is not then he doesn't deserve my faith anyway.

As for looking into religion I think being raised as a christian is enough for me.

as ive said before, i dont think there is anything inherently wrong with religion (well most anyhow). the bad stuff almost always comes from the ABUSE of religion.
i dont think man is naturally evil per say, but man is naturally selfish. and more than in just the self preservation sense.

how the heck does trying to explain OR discredit something that would not be bound by the laws of physics or logic make any sense? there is the argument "well what created god?" "god" does not need to be created. and unless the universe is infinitely oscillating never having an ending and never having a beginning then the universe would need to have been "created" why is it sooooo asinine and absurd to postulate that "god" may have created it?

if simply not being able to disprove something automatically negates it then the idea of a multi verse is absurd to bring up. there is no more proof or "dis-proof" for that than there is for god.

that is so far the only likely description of heaven that i have seen on these boards.

Now wait a second. The reason we ask "What created God?" is because that's the very logic behind God. "There must be something more than us. This can't be it." So we invent God. The question is simply a means to show the absurdity of the "God must've made us because we exist" argument.

Why make the extra leep to God, anyway? What if we create ourselves? In 60 billion years, we discover a reset button in the far reaches of space.

I've been told, "Love your enemy," and I believe there is something similar with the Muslims and Jews...now with all this warfare...

I never really understood this. Seems rather confusing to appear to us mortal as a mortal.

God became flesh so that we could know that he understood human suffering. Or at least, this is what I think most Christians hold to.
(There may be other more obvious reasons that I just can't think of right now.)
