Looking for a portable MP3 player.

So I've had a dell pocket dj for over a year and it's been a really good MP3 player for me, but I've had one problem with it that I'm tired of fixing.

The headphone jack has a short in it that I've had to "fix" three times before, but I'm tired of taking the time to take it apart and reset the pieces for it to work again, so I'm looking for a new MP3 player.

I've heard good things about iRiver, but I'm open to suggestions. I would like at least 5GB of storage and good sound quality. A decent battery life would be nice, but it's not a big need. Any suggestions?

Toshiba Gigabeat S

30gb of storage, and one of the best players out there, especially for the price.

I think you have to load your music using WMP with that player. I don't think it supports drag and drop, at least not well.

It doesn't, but not many players do. Still, given a choice between iTunes and WMP, I'd use WMP in a heartbeat, though I'd still rather have Drag and Drop.

Eh.

Of course, I just thought he should know.

Personally, I love my iAudio 6. It only comes with a 4 GB HDD at the moment, they're supposed to have flash eventually.

Check out the iAudio D2. It's like an MP3 player and PMP hybrid, it may interest you. It can play just about anything, including movies, has a really cool touchscreen interface, is nice and compact, AND can be expanded with an SD card.

Also check out the SanDisk Sansa models. They are quite popular. They only play MP3 and WMP, but they can be expanded with an SD slot, which is quite an attractive feature.

The new shuffle is great, well that is if you like to run w/ music.

Over 5GB, I don't know.

I've heard that all of Apples MP3 players will have flash memory.

Took the words right out of my mouth, as the saying goes. I love mine, it's awesome.

iAudio X5L.

Extra battery life (30 hrs for music without doodads like EQ on, 15 hours for video, though the screen isn't QUITE as good as the ipods, it should be fine for porn watching) 30gb storage, ogg, wma, mp3, avi, and I think jpg support. HAs an inbuilt microphone and line in so you can record from other devices. I don't really use those, I just use it for a player.

And the thing is freaking indestructable. I had a lemon headphone jack, and after I sent it back it was a tank. I took it to a field exercise once and I was doing individual movement over walls and doing combat rolls through doorways and the only thing that got jacked up was the finish.

x5l=love.
