I shall call this one Episode II and replace my Attack of the Clones DVD with it.

Pretty good for amateur choreography, even if neither of them know what to do with a sword.

Then again, the Jedi in the movies are pretty awful fencers as well.

Also, the ending made exactly no sense.
Wikissassi sucks.

Could that be because they aren't fencing?
Epstein didn't kill himself.

If any of you have seen Ryan's site, he actually is very athletic and knows some martial arts.

RvD wasn't that amazing. Maybe the best fan-made fight, but not nearly as good as the ESB or RotS fights.

Most of the time they don't even try to hit each other, they just scrape their blades together.

That is probably the biggest problem in this fan film. It's almost as if their pulling their punches when their sabers meet, instead of just slamming them together.
Wikissassi sucks.

Oooh, pretty.
Ryan VS Dorkman is one of the few fan-films I didn't delete.
Sorry for the lousy German

If you're talking about the first one... that one guy who was killed first I assume was just an elaborate Jedi Mind Trick on the "victor" or something. Then the real guy just pops in and kills him with no effort. At least I think that's a neat way to think about it.

This fan film has pretty sweet saber fighting in it as well.

No, it wasn't quite that well-thought-out.

Ryan is known for his FX videos in which he duplicates himself or other people, that was just a reference :P

Those guys are pretty good, better fight planners than the real movies IMO. Cept for the whole rolling on the ground thing

Ah, I don't watch much fanfics. For some reason I saw this one though.

All I can say is AMAZING!!!!

This fight surpasses that of any fight in the movies.

That was awesome. Especially the interaction with the environment. I also love the fact that the whole thing downloaded in about five minutes, because everyone in my hall is asleep :D

Can't say I expected the credits to be so long, though. I was surprised when the fight was over.

The bit where Ryan makes Michael's lightsaber hit him in the face was hilarious!
2007-03-02, 9:38 PM #24
The credits had to be long in order for all the people who donated money to be mentioned. I thought that this was a huge improvement by leaps and bounds.

That was quite awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd be offered work at ILM or something. :P

Ryan worked for Lucas Arts a little.

They gave him some ****ty art effects position. He should have been overseeing visual effects completely.

yeah that was pretty sweet.

what have we learned from this?

Dont offer bitter geeks lightsabers.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){

elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

I liked everything apart from the little push-pull force battle over the lightsaber, because the other bloke clearly had his own saaber right there in his hand behind him. I would have just twatted him in the back of the head with it.
nope.
2007-03-03, 12:22 PM #30
Didn't George Lucas hire one of these guys, but then he got fired?
2007-03-03, 12:53 PM #31
I like the generic action film setting.
2007-03-03, 1:27 PM #32
One thing that got me was when they just looked at each other with fists and ran for their sabers. If I were one of them, I would have popped the sucker in the eye before running for the saber at the very least. Gosh I totally should have done that saber fight, I'd be so much better than them.:neckbeard:

LucasArts hired him, but yes, was later let go.

Ryan has some cool experience with visual effects, but nothing to warrant a head position. He can do great sabers, make a great faux bullet-time effect, etc. But nothing he's ever done has been large-scale.

It was some small-scale console game. He should have had at least something more than a peon's position.

According to a comment on youtube, he did some of the gun fire animations from republic commando. I don't know if that's true or not.

He did the saber work for the video-game cutscenes in the Episode III game,I believe.

He also worked on kotor 2. Made the lightning on Malachor V, and also the cut scene where HK-50 shoots down the shuttle. Also made the Goto ship explosion and Nihilus's ship explosion. Just in case you really wanted to know :P
