Sigh...the shows producers come up these days...

Television is a plague to the mind.

It's not all bad. Maybe when people watch the show and realize how dumb they are, then they'll want to become smarter. Probably not though.

I voted on their little poll. I can't believe recess beat out the class pet. Oh...I didn't really look at anything about the show other than Jeff Foxworthy was involved.

We never had a class pet, but we did have a kick-*** teacher. She looked like Ms. Frizzle.

That doesn't even make sense, since most of the fifth graders get the answers wrong too, and forget them within a month or so :P

My 5th grade teacher didn't appreciate my sense of humor when I asked her if we could hang nude pictures in our locker (It was our first year with lockers).

So it's a game show that quiz 5th graders. Well, the contestants should be adults answering 5th grader questions, that would be more interesting.

It is a show that quizzes 5th graders. Then they quiz mentally handicapped adults, and then the audience laughs at them for being retarded and not getting the answer right either.

A normal adult would, indeed, be smarter than a 5th grader. Unfortunately this show is hosted by FOX, which means they'll stoop and dig until they find the dumbest adults in America (and possibly the smartest 5th graders).

Oh I see. I didn't bother watching the clips.

It would be great if all of the 5th graders were born geniuses. They could make most normal adults look stupid.

Let me guess, you didn't watch it last night.

It was a brilliant show, at least I thought. I got most of the answers, but I couldn't believe that one chick didn't get REM.

That thing kind of scares me, since I sure as hell would explode if someone randomly asked me a question on the street and I didn't know the answer and then s/he would tell me it was from a 5th grade textbook. Geez!

It's logical that this would come from the channel that canceled firefly.

This show was actually a stolen bit that has been done on the Howard Stern radio show for the past 20 years. I think seeing it in TV form is dry.

I guess TV producers think no one listens to the radio anymore.

I think I'll explain how the show works since most people might think what Jon'C said was correct even though it’s not.

This show is very similar to how "Who wants to be a millionaire?" plays except the adults (not the 5th graders) are given questions from grades 1-5, two from each grade level.

Instead of lifelines, they are given "cheats" where they can either "peek" at the 5th grader's answer (they can see it but they don't have to take the answer as their own), they can "copy" their answer (they're forced to use the kid's answer), or they can allow the kid to "save" them by allowing them to use the kid's answer if their answer is wrong.

If the adult at anytime decides to give up and take their money, they can do so by "dropping out of school" but they have to say to the camera that they "are not smarter than a 5th grader" before they can go.

IMO, after watching last night's episode, I think the show is rigged. Why? Because the adults can't possibly be THAT stupid as the two were last night. The supposed "UCLA grad with degree in law" couldn't answer a single question on his own. Not only that, I'm pretty sure the kids aren't your average 5th grader. They mostly are honor-roll straight-A students who were given either all the answers or allowed to study for the answers before the show began to roll. That's at least my hunch after watching last night but who knows... maybe the average adult is stupid like that? I have to admit I missed one or two questions last night :ninja:

I'm watching it right now. So far the questions have been kind of ridiculous.

"What color do you get when you mix equal amounts of red and yellow paint together?"

"What is the nearest star to the Earth?" (Contestant: "Uhh is the sun a star?" [She got it right])

[edit:
"What country has the largest border with the U.S.?"
Answer: "I'm thinking Mexico, because I'm always hearing about the border, and the security, and [immigration issues etc.]"...

[2:
"How many sides are there on a trapezoid?"
Answer: "...What!? What is that!?"

My (14 year old) sister was convinced that there were 20 decades in two millennium.

What's worse? My mom was convinced there were 20 years in a decade...
