It starts a lot faster and is much improved over previous versions, but it's still not perfect.

The fundamental problem here is that Acrobat was made by Adobe.

I'm not seeing any problems with Photoshop with eating RAM.

I've seen program conflicts where Program A sets a DLL up to load in all programs. Program B loads it and the DLL eats up memory like candy in that program and only that program.

In my specific example, Program A was Windowblinds, Program B was Google Desktop, and 2gb was eaten up before my system hung.

Fortunately Google fixed the problem (assuming it was theirs; at any rate after installing a new version of GDS it didn't happen amymore).

My main complaint is that Reader no longer works with Firefox; when Firefox tries to use the plugin to load a PDF Firefox crashes and a blank Reader 8 window opens after about 10 minutes.

What PDF were you looking at? I wanna see how much my Reader eats up.

I already use it, this was on my dad's PC.

MZZT, I don't remember what the file was, sorry.

Also, Acrobat Reader is the only Adobe application I've ever had trouble with. Photoshop and Illustrator are fantastic. Any imaging application will use a lot of RAM, so I don't consider it their fault.

The problem I have with foxit is I couldn't get it to display PDF in the browser, which is sometimes convenient.

There's an experimental FoxIt plugin for Firefox, but it's not very good at all. I'm surprised at their lack of development on it.
