I have a 256MB stick of SDRAM. It would boost your count to 512. If you want it it's your's. God knows I don't need it, and I would never be able to sell it.

I might have an old AGP graphics card around somewhere if you can use that too.

Oh, and also, Celerons are awesome for overclocking. You could probably get that thing up to 800mhz with a decent heatsink/fan.

PLEASE take Antony up on his offer.

I can't believe this comp is an upgrade of any kind.

Also, told you so.

TWELVE gigs of HD!? I'd eat that for lunch.

HA!

I have a Radeon x1950xt. I want two now. Good card.

But yeah, TE, it you want some stuff for free (minus shipping) I can hook you up. The graphics card I think is a 9600pro... which was a good card. It'll run Half Life 2 on full detail.

There are a lot of good game's that rig could run.

Motocross Madness 2, Diablo 2, etc...

It's not so bad that you got that kind of rig... most games it can run are far better than most of the crap that comes out these days.

You know, maybe imsoshort is on to something here. By staying 8 years behind the curve in computer technology, he'll never have to pay for a new computer, and games will be a couple of dollars in the bargain bin. In 2015 he'll be playing HL2 and GTA:SA and F.E.A.R... all games that are quite enjoyable now; why would they be any less fun if they're a bit older? Not that I'm saying that I'd give up my computer for a late 90's POS but you know...

Anyways, it'll be able to run some good games. Half-life, Unreal Tournament, Jedi Knight (obviously), etc.

The problem is multiplayer. 8 years later, people moved on to greater MP games. I mean, BF2142 any fun without a decent group of online people?

And I don't understand this. $500 will get you a new decent, standard computer. I'm looking at Dell.com and I see decent computers around/under that price, all much better than his "new" computer.

Unless you are on welfare, and you shouldn't be if you have internet, it isn't that much money for technology.

I have a 6 year old laptop with more power than that POS...

Yeah, hey, imsoshort, I'll sell you my old computer for $20 (plus shipping and handling).

It's even better than your new one! I was even playing HL on it the other day; still works great.

It has:

850 Mhz PIII processor
512 MB RAM
GeForce 2 64 MB graphics
20 gig HD
DVD-ROM
8x CD burner

(and to think that in late '00 this was relatively high-end)

I'm not gonna bother with how much that machine cost (I got one similar but with less ram and a much faster processor for <300 canadian) but it can still run some games. If you overclock your processor and get more HD space and a new cheapie video card it can play things like BF1942, CoD, WC3, Jedi Academy (Expect to be kicked out of servers automatically while loading. Timeout ftw). All on lowest settings, but it can be done and with a decent FPS

I don't think it'll run BF1942...tried it on a PIII 933 with an FX5500. Slideshow city. Maybe it'll be almost playable on the absolute lowest settings..but it won't be much fun.
woot!

Seemed to be good for me. I had a GeForce FX5200 and 256 RAM at the time. It ran at about 15 FPS during explosions on lowest settings, and I still had a blast.

I'm thinking overclocking might be a bad suggestion for him.

Wow. If my old computer hadn't completely fried, I'd just give it to you and save you the trouble.

1.9 Ghz
768 MB RAM
64 MB Geforce 5900 SE
80 GB hard drive

Loads better than what you've got, and since I got my new computer, I have no need for it anymore. Sadly, it got fried and won't turn on. Alas. :gonk:
DO NOT WANT.

No, it won't work. I have a GeForce 2, and CoD KILLED it on lowest settings. Best framerate I ever got was like 25 fps on the indoors levels. The dam level was completely unplayable, and I had to go play it at my uncle's.

Edit: Oh, if he takes Bill's 9600, yeah, he could play CoD then.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Read my next one saying I had a FX 5200. It's not that bad of a card for the time.

Seriously man, how do you pay for internet?

I mean, as was said, getting a computer that is infinitely better than that isn't expensive.

Why do you keep posting annoying and vapid crap?

We seriously need to work on your definition of an upgrade man.

Actually that series and that card especially, made a lot of ATI fan boys when it came out.
