So I have a three page case study assignment due tomorrow for my philosophy class that has to be done with another student in the class. Not too bad of a deal except that each person in the group will get the same grade.
The problem? My assignment partner is nowhere to be found. :argh:

Anyway, this was assigned almost two weeks ago. Unfortunately I was out sick that day so I couldn't choose my group members til the next class session (so I didn't really get to choose, I was given a partner).
We decided on how to split the assignment between us and we would talk during the next class on what we would have done and when we're going to get the parts together. Well, my parts have been done for over a week and every time I try to talk to him about his part he always has an excuse for not having it done. So I told him that I would give him my part tonight so he could do his part, but I can't get a hold of him....

So now I'm faced with a problem.... finish the assignment and give him a grade for doing nothing or not finish and fail the assignment (which could possibly put me into failing the class)

Anyone else ever been in a situation like this?

Three pages? That's it? I can do that in...an hour if I really put my mind to it.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Doing it isn't the problem for me, I can get it done in a hour or so, it's that he hasn't done his half and i'm the one who might fail because of it.

Do his part then sleep with his mom for payback.

Yeah. Better to do more work, than to fail a class.

Or maybe finish the assignment, see the lecturer or dude (-ette if female) in charge of the subject and rat his *** off for being a lazy S. O. B.. That way you get a grade for the assignment and the other dude gets diddly squat.

If you do just half, then whine to the professor that he didn't do anything, the professor will tell you to get lost. If you do the whole thing, then whine, it's a different story.

Have you guys no honor? Don't rat him out. Talk to him yourself.

You think honor involves letting a lazy person do nothing and get the credit for it? :downswords:

You have not worked on projects where you had "the slacker" You have to make up for their work and thus that is more time that you probably don't have. It is wholly unfair to the rest of the group to have "the slacker" get a free ride on your backs. We had to rat out someone once to the professor. We all didn't want to do it but at the same time, our grades would have suffered. Of course the guy then later shows complete class and lets the professor know of his shortcomings. We all felt like crap the next day :P

Been through that exact situation. Did the assignment myself and told the professor about the situation. He failed the other dude and raised my mark a little cos I did it solo.
