Hey hey! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]
I'm having grief with Thunderbird, are there any other reliable clients that are free and sexy? I'm running XP Pro...

Cheers

What kind of grief are you having with Thunderbird?
2004-07-16, 7:53 AM #6
It has decided it doesn't want to send any emails out - it's happy as larry when receiving them, but doesn't seem to want to connect to the smtp server of my uni for outgoing! The incoming is IMAP.

I tried upgrading to the latest release to find exactly the same problem - it retained all my old settings.

I figured a fresh start might help me figure out the problem! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Hmm, not to be an uber-Mozilla defender here, but that does sound like it wouldn't be an issue with Thunderbird, per say. Are there any extra port settings you may have overlooked? Did it ever work in any previous e-mail clients?

Right, I'll start from the top [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I'm trying to access my uni IMAP webmail service, and it used to work fine when i lived in a house off grounds, and just used T'bird to access it. I've moved back home for summer, and got myself onto broadband, but for some reason having just plugged in my laptop at home, I can recieve and not send with thunderbird. That's pretty much it [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Oh, and I love mozilla, I'm not criticising it! Though I do prefer to use opera...

I know my school won't let me send mail through their server if I'm not on a school IP, though you said that you already lived in off-campus housing, so maybe that's not the problem. Anyway, yeah, you might want to try another mail client to see if you have the same problem.
