Does anyone have the words to this fantastic piece of russian music? (aka Volga boatmen song).

Does anyone have the words to any russian song such as Farewell of Slavinika, Katuysha, etc etc?

Holy!

My buddy used to sing Katyusha when he went out. It goes like this..

Quote:

Rasstvetali yabloni i grushi,
Poplili tumani nad rekoi
Vuikhodila na bereg Katyusha
Na vuisoki bereg, na krutoi

Vuikhodila, pyesnyu zavodila
Pro styeppnovo syerevo orla
Pro tovo kotorova lyubila
Pro tovo chi pisma byeregla.

Oi, ti pyesnya, pyesyenka dyevicha,
Ti lyeti za yasnim solntsyem vslyed
I boitsu na dalnyen pogranichi
Ot Katyushi pyeredai privyet

Poost on vspomnit dyevushku prostuyu
I usli**** kak ona poyot.
Poost on zyemlyu byerezhot rodnuyu
A lyubov Katyusha sbyerezhot.

Translation
Quote:

Apple and pear trees were in bloom
The mist crept over the river
On the bank walked Katyusha,
On the steep, high bank.

She walked and sang a song
Of a grey Stepp eagle,
Of the one she loved,
Of the one whose letters she kept

Oh song, dear little song
Fly into the bright sun
And to the soldier on the far frontier
Give greetings from Katyusha.

May he remember a simple young woman,
And hear how she sings
May he protect the native land
As Katyusha protects [their] love.

My brother loves that song. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

btw, english lyrics:

Yo, heave ho! Yo, heave ho!
Once more, once again, still once more

VERSE 1

Now we fell the stout birch tree,
Now we pull hard: one, two, three.
Ay-da, da, ay-da!
Ay-da, da, ay-da!
Now we fell the stout birch tree
Yo, heave ho!
Hey, hey, let's heave a-long the way
to the sun we sing our song

VERSE 2

As the barges float along,
To the sun we sing our song.
Ay-da, da, ay-da!
Ay-da, da, ay-da!
To the sun we sing our song.
Hey, hey, let's heave a-long the way
to the sun we sing our song

VERSE 3

Volga, Volga our pride,
Mighty stream so deep and wide.
Ay-da, da, ay-da!
Ay-da, da, ay-da!
Mighty stream so deep and wide.
Volga, Volga you're our pride.

Weird.. ukhnem rearranges to Khnemu, the name of my jawa demolitions expert in swd6, and not coincidentally the name of a Sumerian desert god..
