yep today ford sold Aston Martin to Prodrive... i heard it today on the news and havent heard anything on the web except for wikipedia

I dont get it. Aston Martin was the one part of Ford that was actually making a profit, so Ford get rid of them...

Aston Martin doesn't pull in anywhere near $850 million a year.

Seriously, they sell like 9 cars a year, and spend tens of millions on each designing them.

No one buys a company for $850 million expecting to make it all back in one year.

Ford is in serious financial trouble. Selling Aston Martin and getting $850 million is way for them to survive as a company.

Ford owns Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Mercury, 33% of Mazda, and I think a few others. I dont get why they chose to sell the one part of their business that was making a profit instead of offloading something that wasnt.

This is only marginally related, but considering how YouTube was bought for $1.7 billion and Aston Martin goes only for $850 million, I'm more and more persuaded that Internets will soon take over the world.
