Series finale of SG-1

For those of us in the UK or those who have been downloading the recent episodes over the net, what did you think of the last SG-1 ever? I thought it was decent, but like most episodes of the last two seasons, the writers clearly rushed too much content into an episode. It's not really their fault though, since the show got canned.

All I can say is that Walter had better be in the next season of Atlantis. Also, I think we can see how they're going to defeat the Wraith in that show now.

I thought it was good, but not "end of series" quality. Of course that's what the DVD movies are supposed to be for I guess. I liked the whole sequence with "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" a lot though. Still sucks that they canned it though, because I was starting to like Mitchell as a character and he only got 2 seasons.

Oh yeah, and Thor and all of the Asgard dying was pretty sad.

You guys do know that there will be like 2 SG1 movies, right?

That was my biggest problem with the episode. It was very brief. There was no room for mourning or anything. The Asgard were supposed to be one of the greatest races to inhabit the galaxy, right up there with the Ancients in both technological and philosophical advancements. So WTF? . It should have been two hours long.

And yes, the Have You Ever Seen The Rain scene was great.

Also, Carter is going to be in Atlantis. Yay! There should be some really interesting drama between her and McKay. I hope she replaces Teyla. Teyla is completely useless. McKay is the best character on that show, and Ronan is actually becoming good.

It would have been nice if it had been a two hour episode, but since there still 2 DVD movies, this wasn't really the end. It's a shame that this was the last season because season 10 had some really, really good episodes.

Good. Now that they're done making that crappy TV show I only have to wait about 4 more years before everyone has forgotten it.

Dr. Weir is being bumped down to a guest role and Carter is getting a recurring character role. It's not like Weir is a good character either but replacing Teyla would have been better.

What's funny is that, even though in a story sense Teyla serves basically no purpose, that's just the writers catering to her acting talent.

what a terrible last episode. im just going to forget that the whole "Ori" part ever happened. This show ended when MacGuyver left.

[nvm, found it]

I liked that episode, although as mentioned before with the Asgard, that seemed to be too much of a cop-out, even though the genetic problems have been known for a while

I like Atlantis, but probably only because of Mckay.

Casper showed me stargate spoilers.

From what I've seen of it, i hereby yield my stargate love, and comdemn it.

Series 1 and 2 were awesome, 5 and 6 were still great, and it went a bit off after that, but i honestly thought end of series 9 was brilliant.

Alas, RUINED!

I just wanna say!

YOU SUCK, MGM! :argh: :eng101:

While the second-last episode was far better as far as plot development goes, I think that they achieved what they were trying to achieve with the final episode: some great character stuff. It didn't feel like a last episode (except for the ending, which was pretty much perfect), but then again it's not *really* the end because there's still the two movies yet to come. I expect the movies will tie up at least the major loose ends with the plot ( they now have a weapon that can kill ascended beings, as well as a weapon that can blow up Ori ships, so that's easily taken care of; Ba'al had better be in the movies because he was a far more interesting villan in my opinion ).

Anyways I'm sure that the sg-1 cast is just going to move to the soundstage next door and be on Atlantis all the time; it'll be just like it was never cancelled.

Also there's the other Stargate series that's starting next year. And while we don't really know where (when?) it's going to be set or who is going to be cast in it, it's still Stargate. They should just call it Stargate SG-2 and have all the same characters. :ninja:

Baal is the badguy in movie 2.

Also the ascended being weapon was assumedly a one-shot device.

Which is why ascended Adria is a new threat.

PS: Wii post!

Sorry for reviving, but I felt it wasn't necessary to start a new thread.

I just finished, and I must say I consider the last episode to be pretty much an epic win. Especially compared to a lot of season 9 and 10.

I LOVED the "have you ever seen the rain" bit, and I thought the only way the ending could have been more perfect is if it had ended with Teal'c saying "Indeed." and then they all walked off together. Although the actual final lines "Just another mission to save the galaxy" is pretty good too.

I really liked it. I was kinda weirded out by Daniel when he's going off on Vala, but I can attribute that to them all going stircrazy.

I really liked it. A great ending to an overall great show.
