The Empire.

I have a problem with being a rebel. If anything bothered me, I'd nail a 95 thesis to the door of my Imperial starship and take it from there. No need to go around blowing up peaceful stars of death.

The lack of actual politics in the movie is annoying. I guess Lucas was avoiding a political divide for his movies, but I would have loved to see how tyrranical the empire really was.

I don't think Lucas wanted people to think there's a connection between the movie's message and current day politics.

No! The stormtroopers just couldn't shoot major characters. They were known for their deadly accuracy.

Example, when Luke's aunt/uncle were killed, Ben was talking about "This is too precision work to be Tuskens" or sommat

I have a screenshot from XWA giving me 52 X-Wing kills with a TIE Defender. They weren't set on a low difficulty either. I was actually tired when I finished that...thought they would never stop comming.

Also, considering that the Rebellion ends up becoming the New Republic, and i'm sure we all know how well it handled itself in the later years, i'm siding with the Empire.

The Empire.

Only reason why stormtroopers shoot badly and huge military operations get botched because of, well, Ewoks is simply because SW movies wouldn't be (practically) family friendly if the bad guys won. And a lot of people besides George Lucas like it to stay that way.

That said, I have to reinstall Rebellion and have one of these 100% galaxy conquest games. Or maybe I'll install EaW, it's editor tools and make it more C&C like. Maybe not. :cool:

I've always been a darksider so its only natural to be on the side of the Empire. Its the lure of being in control of a Star Destroyer that gets me on the Imperial side. Besides the education's great. Hey even Mr Katurn studied at the benefit of the Empire (well until he changed sides anyway.. and went on to become... well you know) :)

The Rebs are terrorists, and got lucky. If Palpatine didn't have his head shoved so far up his ***, the outcome of the movies would've been much different, and the Empire would've lasted for generations to come.

i swear with the books lately they are, the Legacy of the Force stuff creates a police state, the book right before Episode 3 does a becoming-a-police-state-Empire.

Rebel Alliance.

As attractive as the idea is to "bring order to the galaxy," the Empire went about it all wrong. Do we get caught up in the technological "coolness" and forget that the Imperials denied equal rights to non-huMans, enslaved worlds, sought to bring order through fear of destruction, and tortured/killed all those who opposed them.

Palpatine and Vader were evil men, who did evil things and brought dark, oppressive times to the galaxy. Those who stood up against it did the right thing.

JediKirby: The books show the tyranny of the Empire better than the films; ones that come to mind are the original Star Wars novel, the Farlander Papers (X-Wing strategy guide), Star Wars: Empire: Wrong Side of the War comics, and the Allegiance novel that just came out.
