I saw yodason45 post his "Welcome me back" thread, So I thought I'd come back.

I used to post here and frequent #massassi under the name Valandil.
Then, about a year ago I joined the Army, As a 13Fox, and lost all contact with Massassi.
I got deployed about 3 months ago. We all got called off leave 2 days after Christmas to come back to F.t.Bragg because President Bush decided he wanted to surge troops in Iraq.. So I'm sitting here in the TOC (Tactical Operations Command) listening to a radio and surfing around on government internet and I thought... "Hey, I'll check up on Massassi and see what's going on."

I thought I might go to #Massassi but y'all changed servers on me so I decided to take a look at the forums.

Anyway, Just incase any of you are wondering Iraq sucks. Almost as much as the 82nd Airborne division and F.t. Bragg :rolleyes:

So.. that's it.

Yes, I reckon that does require explaination.
FIST stands for Fire Support Team.
A FISTER or 13F is a forward observer. The guy you see in movies with a radio calling in Artillery fire.

That's my main job, calling for Artillery. I can put Artillery rounds anywhere I need to within 45 seconds. Which includes identifying the target, getting a grid to said target and calling up the fire mission.

My secondary job, the one I'm doing right now, is RTO or Radio Telephone Operator.
Basically to know everything about my radio and how to use it.

I know FISTER sounds obcene, But I'm very proud of it.


I got banned a couple of times.. like over the course of 6 years. But I wasn't banned when I left for the Army.
